#3 Miwok - Large Family Teepee Creekside (NO PETS).

Come experience a real teepee. This 18' teepee is located along the creek and is centrally located right across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. It is right next to #13 teepee.  It is perfect for the family experience.  Inside we have four thick covered mats and provide a propane fire pit outside for ambience.  They outdoor fire pit can be used with the purchase of on-site propane.  We provide towels and amenities. All you have to do is bring your sleeping bags and cooking supplies. This space will allow 4 in the teepee. If you have more friends there is room to pitch a tent next to the teepee for an additional 2 campers.  WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS IN OUR TEEPEES.

Reservation considerations.  We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day.  Beginning in the 2020 season we do not do checkins on Sunday.  However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay.  Due to COVID many of our weddings were postponed into 2021 so many weekends during May, June, September and October are not available for camping.  So if one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.

This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents , teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping (we will allow a small travel trailer in #14).

We have a “family camp” vibe.  We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together.  We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.  Tahoe is less than an hour away.  We are dog friendly at many of our sites and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers. Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from10 pm to 7 AM.

We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.

For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness.

The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up around memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use the floating devices we provide (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits for ambience – not cooking. They require the purchase of our on site propane rental.

We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, sleeping pads, etc. Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.

Checkin is between 4 and 8.  If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin.  If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning.   Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

The tee pee experience was great! We had an amazing time. The floor mats that were provided to sleep on were cushy and comfortable, we only needed our sleeping bags and a pillow. My husband and son are tall guys and we all had plenty of space (there were 4 of us) . The campgrounds are very well maintained. Greg and Laurie were welcoming and kind. It’s a nice peaceful, relaxing place to visit. We had a few hours of light rain during one of the nights we were there...everyone stayed dry and warm. We will be retiring in the future.

We had a great time camping in the teepee! The facilities are wonderful with bathrooms close by, bbqs everywhere, a stream to play/swim/find crawdads in. Will definitely be back!

My stay was for a Sunday/Monday. Selected this location out of convenience in terms of travel plans and for the opportunity to sleep in a canvas Teepee. Staying in Teepee #3 did not disappoint. Slept very comfortably throughout the night. The sleeping pads provided were a great convenience and pleasantly comfortable. In the daytime, the site is shaded well and is located close to the creek, restrooms…and pretty much everything else. This camp scores a 10 in terms on cleanliness, location and amenities. There are lots of tall trees around. and took advantage of the shaded areas on the lawn and the creek in the daytime to keep cool on a very hot July day. There are lots of birds to watch and saw deer grazing just a few feet away throughout our stay. At night the lawn is a perfect spot for stargazing. (We saw at least 6 satellites and saw a shooting star.) The site is perfect for families with young children for sure. If you are looking to hang out on the premises to spend some quiet time for meditating, reading, or sleeping in, the closeness and noise from all day maintenance going on may be distracting. My husband, daughter and I decided to enjoy the grounds on our only full day at the Camp and were peacefully reading in the lawn area, when it was cut short due to the owner and his helper using a couple of chainsaws a short distance way from us. This struck me as strange since we were in clear view and it was obvious that we were reading. There was no forewarning that chainsaw work was going to be done. Overall a lovely clean camp. We had a nice stay.

Hello Rebecca - sorry the trip wasn't all you were expecting. It's a difficult when you are open 7 days a week and need to keep the grounds maintained. This does include chainsaws and weed wacking occasionally including lawn mowing. He does try to keep it away from the individual sites themselves. I know Greg tries to keep it at a minimum and normally does this type of work during the week verses weekend. sometimes it is not possible when it's a safety issue. Again, sorry for any inconvenience.

Super clean, super family-friendly campground. Definitely plan to return. Hosts communicated everything well leading up to check-in and greeted us on arrival. We opted for the Teepee on the creek, straight across from the lodge and bathrooms as a way to ease our little kids into their first camping experience and did not regret it. Camp Nauvoo also offers tent sites and full on glamping.

We came to camp nauvoo to do our annual mama and baby trip and to get the kids out of the house and enjoy nature. Let me start off with how great Greg is. He really is a wonderful and very helpful guy. The teepee is great, better than we expected. Very spacious, enough space for the kids to run around chasing each other. We were so close to the creek, lodge and showers. We did not swim on the swimming hole across our teepee as there was a really big group same day as we camped and kinda took over the whole entire lodge and all the other places to relax so we decided to enjoy the other peaceful and quiet swimming hole about 100 yards out. Nonetheless, we had a great time and we had the other swimming hole all to our selves! We definitely want to come back here but next time we know not to over pack! Greg really built this place to convenience and it is meant for families. They have everything you need from microwave, gas grills, towels, shampoo and even have a kuerig! Can’t wait to bring our whole family here!

Camp Nauvoo is an absolute dream. We had a great time with our young kids and can't wait to come back. The facilities are very clean and accommodating. Greg was so nice, welcoming, and very obviously takes amazing care of Camp Nauvoo. I believe that resonates with all who come here because everyone we met was nice, welcoming, and did their part to care for the place as well. My kids had a great time, made friends, and enjoyed hiking, crayfish fishing, and playing at the park. Alot of tears were shed when we had to leave and they've been asking when we can go back.

In the teepee, it is conveniently located close to all Camp Nauvoo has to offer, but with that, you are in a high traffic area. Camp sites are located somewhat close in proximity to each other so if you're looking for privacy, you may want to consider one of the more secluded sites on this property. We walked around the place and saw some of the other sites a little further away and will probably stay on one of those next time.

Camp Nauvoo provides so many conveniences like a microwave, propane grills, heavy duty wagons to transport your camp gear, you can't help but appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into providing a great camping experience. Thank you so much Greg and Laurie! We can't wait to come back.
