You'll have use of our new Cedar Bathhouse, including a sauna and cold plunge, 3 toilets, 2 showers and sinks.  Our sauna is currently available to guests in the evenings by request during the summer.

We hope to offer a kitchen in the near future. The campus has many other picnic areas and fire pits where you're welcome to meet other guests. We host chef prepared family style feasts through GP Dinners and occasional acoustic concerts in our outdoor amphitheater. Contact the hosts if food and music are your thing.

DIRECTIONS:

Please park next to the cedar work shed on your left as you enter the Cedar Springs Road gate at Camp Earnest. Walk uphill, past the Cedar Bathhouse, on your right, as the road curves away and above the main lodge.  Upper Campsite is near the Queen Tent up the wood chip path to your right. You can unload your car there, but please do not drive up the hill. As you approach the Queen Tent on this path, make a right and find your campsite next to Kewl Mom's Hut (private).

nice property, beautiful bath house, would absolutely stay again, lots of hiking options with a 20-45 min drive
Twain Harte is a little unique town, looks like it was developed in the 70's

I just stayed for a night of camping before heading onwards, but the setting was as described and also quiet and dark (lots of stars). The bathhouse was very clean.

When you arrive after dark, note that you need some patience to find your way around the property - there are illuminated signs and the main driveways eventually lead to the main house, where there is WiFi to communicate with the host.

Overall I'd highly recommend this for a getaway in nature.

We were so excited to stay at Camp Earnest, it looked like the best outside of Yosemite, and it may be one day, but right now it is a construction zone, with swarms of yellow jackets, a cold sauna, and bathrooms that are beautiful, but left uncleaned for the duration of our stay.

When we arrived and set up camp, the yellow jackets began flying around. We were unable to eat the food we had brought with us because we were worried of being stung. They were flying into our tents, and made it unbearable. When I let Karin and Raman know, they gave me a complicated trap, with 4 different kinds of poison. But they were in the middle of dinner and seemed annoyed. Ironically, they also told me food is a problem, and to keep it packed away; however, we couldn't even get the food out of the cooler, while they enjoyed their dinner.

Raman handed me the trap and did not offer to set it up. So instead I got the poison on my hands which could still be smelled after I washed my hands thoroughly. When we woke up the next day, the trap was filling up and had attracted an angry swarm so we left as soon as possible. We let Karin and Raman know about the trap and swarm, and rather than remove the trap, they left us a can of wasp/hornet spray, which I did not feel comfortable spraying in areas where my daughter would explore.

When we informed Karin and Raman we were unhappy with using chemicals, they offered us another site, but would require us to strike camp, move across the property, and reset, only to strike the next morning because we were checking out. We would have accepted a cabin or somewhere less labor intensive but they did not reply to this request.

As a result of how uncomfortable the yellow jackets made us, we scrambled to find dinner and left early the next morning, so we missed 2 of 3 chances we had to use the sauna. The next morning when we got up at 7a to use the sauna, before we left, it was still not above 95 degrees at 10am when we were packed and leaving. The sauna was a primary reason for our stay and it was a total bust.

In addition, the reasons for my low rating include,
1) the road noise near upper camp is bad, perhaps by the creek it is not so bad.

2) The soap in the bathroom was never filled and trash left for 3 days full of sanitary pads, and TP left on the floor.

3) The bath house was nice and new, so that's a plus, but it was a construction zone with wood, pallets, saws, and spa equipment all over the place.

4) The camp was messy, with unusable fire equipment strewn about. There were also random logs of wood stumps. And loose rocks that my daughter tripped on in the dark.

4) We camped in Rock Creek, Mammoth and finally Camp Earnest. I made it through a week without bug bites, but when I got home was covered in spider bites... I'm familiar with camping in rough places, and bug bites don't bother me, but Camp Earnest is a premium priced camp, and should be better maintained than it is.

Finally, I can see Karin and Raman's vision. The property is pretty and there is potential, but until they finish building and take care of the yellow jackets, I can not recommend Upper Camp, or Camp Earnest. It is not a safe place for children and the owners lack customer service.

I have photos, documenting everything but do not see a way to upload.

Graham had a difficult stay with us and we are sorry for some of the inconveniences, however we provided much of the information he needed to make his stay better. This is our home and as such as do our best to be present for guests and yet can't be so 24/7. Graham came to check in and we were happy to provide information and assist. We did our best to assist at the level we felt was the urgency around the yellow jackets, yet afterwards it was apparent that it was not up to his standards. When he came by a third time late on a Sunday evening we were not quite as present since it was the end of the day. The next morning we touched base again and I offered another campsite. He never requested a cabin and they were not available in this case anyways. The sauna hours are from 7 to 9pm and by request during summer hours, which we communicate to each guest in a welcome message. So, it is not a surprise that Graham found it cold at 7am, still slightly warm from a guest the night before. If he had requested use of the sauna we would have been happy to oblige. The bath house is currently being finished and we do have some evidence of this as we are getting the hot tub installed. This is all set aside and not in anyone’s path. The bath house likely could have used some more deep cleaning that day so that is on us. We are happy to work with guests to make their experience great with compassion and understanding. We’ve hosted hundreds of guests this year and many have enjoyed our campus and we look forward to improving our campus and home for many to enjoy.

Camp Earnest is in such a beautiful setting in the pines. The creek was very low but as of August 1 there were still knee-deep pools if you walk down just a bit, and the blackberries are perfect. Toshi the dog was friendly and adorable. The bathrooms were nice and things are being built. I’m not sure the place quite has its own feel yet but there is so much potential.

Pinecrest Lake is only 20 miles up the road and is beautiful and fun, bring your paddleboards!

As for Upoer Campsite itself, it was alright—not the best campsite ever but totally fine, and we loved the path to the bath house. There were millions of yellowjackets at the campsite, I really can’t overstate how many there were, they swarmed our food and were just everywhere but only one sting for our group the whole time. The hosts may want to do something about this.

This was a great campsite, would definitely stay here again. Stocked with fire tools (if fires are allowed), nice flat soft area for tent setup. The creek on the property is not currently running for swimming but the lovely host was able to provide a backup recommendation. There is a very short uphill walk from where you unload the car to your site, and also to the bathhouse.

Upper campsite was just perfect for our family of 4 in a 10 person tent. Location was very private and just a short hike to the restrooms (50yards give or take). Restrooms and entire camp location were extremely well kept and very comfortable for our family with two kids age 6 and 7.

Kids were able to walk around camp and feel safe and comfortable.

Only con was occasionally loud vehicles can be heard from the main road near by but only was an issue a couple times during the night.

Would recommend this location to others in the area.

Nice campsite with its own fire pit and ample firewood. It was slightly more private than the Sugarpine campsite, and overall, I enjoyed this site a bit more than the Sugarpine Campsite. Overall, I recommend camp Earnest for a quick camping getaway.
