Go behind the scenes at Bear Camp. This is normally where our artists and production staff camp during our festivals and some of the most beautiful camping on our property. Bear Camp gets its name from presumedly an actual bear that was buried here, but who know if that's really true! Note: this camp is closest to our camp hosts and the road noise of Highway 101.

Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautiful 150 acre property for almost 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, The Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the inaugural Hog Farm Hideaway scheduled for next year. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, Black Oak Ranch is home to majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Black Oak Ranch has an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents, a couple of families of beavers! Please note: our property is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 and you will hear noise from the highway.

Campsites are on flat terrain. Campsites have shade most or all of the day. The creek is a short walk away from each campsite. Please plan on making your site your own by bringing your own setups, gas-powered camp stoves, etc. We will provide a 6' table and some folding chairs to get you started. We suggest bringing a festive table cover. No wood or charcoal fires or BBQs due to high fire danger. Gas fire bowls are allowed as long as they are not placed on grass (we can help you place them). All bathrooms are port-o-lets. We do not offer showers at this time. Ten Mile creek is great for wading and some parts of the creek are swimmable depending on the time of year. Note: Depending on how much rain we get in the winter Ten Mile Creek can be quite dry late in the summer. Feel free to inquire about the status of the creek. Kids 12 and under are free.

Bear Camp was a beautiful and peaceful location. I enjoyed staying there very much. The road noise didn't bother me. I would have liked to stay another night. I would stay there again.

Pros: beautiful campground, good facilities (bathrooms / water / table and chairs)

Cons: unfortunately it was far too close to the highway for us and the noise from the cars made it difficult to enjoy the campsite. It does mention the highway in the description which we should have read more carefully. We ended up not staying for the night because it was too noisy.

Extremely primitive accommodations and could handle that but I felt I was overcharged. The "swimming hole" should have been closed and the "showers" should have been open.

We really enjoyed our few days at this camp site. It had enough shade, a creek to splash in (though the water was a bit stagnant), and plenty of fresh air.

Amazing! Sites are big and spaced apart giving a lot of privacy. Each site had an outhouse that was sparkling clean and had a bottle of hand sanitizer inside, Biasha took our temperatures upon arrival which made us feel very good, knowing that our host cares about guests safety!! Super friendly and happy people running it. I’ve already recommended to friends and will definitely be back.

Our campsite was PERFECT and Biasha was an excellent host, as well as Nate and Ray! Everyone was very helpful and welcoming, and the site was absolutely beautiful! We dipped our feet in the river, saw endless shooting stars, and felt warmly embraced by the energy of Black Oak Ranch. We loved our stay and highly recommend to all! I also recommend using the flower delivery service by Ella - I received the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers on my birthday and felt like a forest queen!

We had the best time at the ranch!! The oak forest was really gorgeous and secluded, which made the whole experience really special. Aside from the natural beauty of the location, the upkeep, hosts, and amenities were also awesome. They really thought of all the details to make your stay as comfortable as possible without crossing the line from camping to glamping. The port o potty was clean and comfortable, water was close by, and they provided hand sanitizer, chairs, and a table for us. And Ray gave us a great recommendation for a swimming hole in town. We loved it here!
