_________

Back of the Bowl (BOB) camp is located in our well-maintained main concert bowl where we normally place our craft vendors and our beer garden. The main concert bowl is flat and grassy. Perfect for lawn games and kiddos to run around!

Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautiful 150 acre property for almost 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, The Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the inaugural Hog Farm Hideaway scheduled for next year. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, Black Oak Ranch is home to majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Black Oak Ranch has an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents, a couple of families of beavers! Please note: our property is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 and you will hear noise from the highway.

Campsites are on flat terrain. Campsites have shade most or all of the day and most accommodate large RVs and trailers. The creek is a short walk away from each campsite. Please plan on making your site your own by bringing your own setups, gas-powered camp stoves, etc. We will provide a 6' table and some folding chairs to get you started. We suggest bringing a festive table cover. No wood or charcoal fires or BBQs due to high fire danger. Gas fire bowls are allowed as long as they are not placed on grass (we can help you place them). All bathrooms are port-o-lets. We do not offer showers at this time. Ten Mile creek is great for wading and some parts of the creek are swimmable depending on the time of year. Note: Depending on how much rain we get in the winter Ten Mile Creek can be quite dry late in the summer although there is usually at least one swimmable pool. Feel free to inquire about the status of the creek. Kids 12 and under are free.

This was the perfect, easy stop for the night for us and our SUV and 20’ trailer. We stayed in site 3, parked between two big trees with tons of space around us. It was peaceful. We arrived in the evening and there was no one around so we just settled ourselves and left the next morning. Porta potties were super clean, a nice bonus. Sadly the creek/pond weren’t swimmable, likely due to drought. I’d definitely stay again overnight, and it would be great for a group of friends!

I liked that it was not far from 101 because it made it easy to find with little cell service in the area. The car sounds were nothing compared to city street sounds I’m used to. Only one other party in a camper van on the large property and our sites were very spread out anyway unlike most campgrounds. Biasha was a lovely host and was texting me as soon as I hit the Reserve button to explain what I needed to know and to answer any of my questions. I’m glad I added the fire bowl for aesthetics. Portapotties didn’t smell, drinking water was convenient. The creek was down to a few puddles due to drought so may have contributed to more mosquitoes.

The town of Laytonville was nice to be near for the market (where I got my tent since the camping was a last minute decision!), tacos and coffee. This camp is hosting festivals this summer I might check out too.

We stayed here for a night and really enjoyed it. Clean, spacious grassy sites. Water and clean portable toilets as well as picnic tables/chairs were provided.

What a beautiful spot! We will definitely visit again. We had to change our travel plans due to car issues, and Biasha was very accommodating. She responded to my messages quickly. The portable toilets were clean and the property was well maintained.

We noped out of a sketch hotel and thankfully BOB Camp was instant book. We booked, got a helpful message from the host, met the camp host, and we were in camp within the hour. It’s a great little spot and we would love to come back. When it’s hot out make sure to figure out where the morning shade will be. Also, the Porta potty was exceptionally clean.

BOB Camp was a truly magical place to stay. Our campsite had an ideal mix of shade and sun; close to town, but set far back enough to feel relaxing and immersive; amenities (a nearby spout for drinkable water and extremely clean Porto-potties) that made the camping (especially with kids) super easy, but wandering around to the nearby swimming holes still felt wild and adventurous. I highly recommend this campground, particularly for families.

Biasha offered us a different location because Back of the Bowl needed to be cleaned up after a large group. She graciously gave us some options and we stayed at Bear Camp. Upside: very clean, great layout for the music festivals, very close to Hwy 101, ok place for a single night.
Downside: very close to Hwy 101, (cars hitting the rumble strip and trucks all night) very high priced for a spot with a spigot and a chem toilet. Even though it was very clean.

Nice to get out in the wilds… 100+ degrees temps were a bit rough when you are not used to them but a short hike to the river and cooled off. Love that each site has the lined trash cans, and a fire extinguisher. In the heat of the dry summer temps that little detail was not missed and very appreciated.
