Black Creek is a small town located on the eastern shore of North Central Vancouver Island, home to stunning beaches and outdoor recreation. At nearby Saratoga Beach, the tide goes out for over a quarter of a mile, creating a hard-packed oceanfront playground perfect for children to safely explore.
Miracle Provincial Park is close by with a picnic area overlooking the water and a series of lovely trails winding through lush forest. You can visit the Oyster River Hatchery, check out the seals and sea lions in Seal Bay Regional Park, do some saltwater fishing for salmon, or even rent a go-cart and race around the Saratoga Speedway, or just watch others do it.

Staying at this cute hobby farm is wonderful. The people show their enthusiasm for hosting campers as well as enthusiasm for their animals.
Just a two minute drive or 20 minute walk from the epic Miracle Beach Provincial Park, is the farm animal paradise of Peacock Camping. With flat grass below, and alders above, the camp site makes for a perfect basecamp to explore the area and nearby beach, especially if the campground at the park is full.
The property is home to a plethora of farm animals, including a very friendly llama and goat herd, plus sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, bunnies, and, of course, peacocks. Given many of the animals were raised by hand, they are well accustomed to human-company, and will eagerly jaunt up to say hello (just be a bit more cautious with the pigs). This friendliness of the animals makes the farm a great place for children, and adults alike, who will love snuggling with the goats.
The camping area has ample room for parking a few vehicles, and setting up a number of tents. The ground is soft grass, which makes hammering in tent pegs a breeze. Surrounding the site are a number of trees, which makes for hanging a tarp no challenge, should rain be on the forecast. The camping area is tucked off the driveway with a decent amount of privacy, so it doesn’t feel like one is set up in the host’s backyard. Amenities available for campers include a tap by the house for water, and wifi that reaches the campsite. In the summer, there’s also a picnic table moved into the camping area. One thing to keep in mind is that the camping area is close to the road, and although not the busiest street, it may be a good idea to bring earplugs, if a light sleeper.
Nearby there’s a number of things to do, with the gold star activity being visiting the aforementioned Miracle Beach Provincial Park, with an expansive sandy beach when the tide is out as well as showers, bathrooms, and interpretive activities. Also nearby, is Saratoga Speedway, other parks such as Oyster River Nature Park (known for its fishing), and a bit farther afield, Mount Washington Alpine Resort featuring many alpine activities all year round. Also minutes away is a gas station with a small grocery section and liquor store, with anything else one could need 20 minutes away in Courtenay.
Overall, Peacock Camping makes for a great basecamp to explore the nearby area, with the added bonus of friendly animals, and equally friendly hosts.

We really enjoyed our stay at the farm. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. The site was private and peaceful. It was lovely being around and interacting with the animals. The location was a great home base for exploring the surrounding areas. I would definitely stay here again!
The place was very quiet & the site was private & the hosts were very respectful & helpful. I loved meeting all the animals, so fun to watch. The location is perfect as a home base for riding around the island. I would come back again & will definitely tell my friends. Some of them already want to go & stay.
We stayed 2 nights at farm.
My 10and12 years old daughters enjoyed to stay there with farm animal. Hosts welcomed us and very kind.
We would like to visit again.
