We just returned from an 8 night stay on the farm. Our whole family and friends had an amazing trip.
Hosts are so kind, showed us and our kids around the farm, and let us see the animals. Very peaceful and quiet location. Beautiful river access with trails nearby. Would love to go again. Thank you for a great stay!
Blue Moon Acres is a uniquely wonderful spot and hosts Lianne and her husband are genuine, hospitable and very accommodating.
The private camping areas are setup nearby the river with easy access, and thoughtfully separated from their small-scale and diversified farm/ranch operations, which are impressive.
Trails leading from their property through old growth forests alongside the river connect to a vast system of community trails for endless exploration.
Walking distance to beach and many amenities and easy drive to all other area attractions.
Our stay was very fun and went quick!
With incredible pastoral views, friendly farm animals, a delightful host, and private access to an amazing river, Blue Moon Acres is phenomenal to say the least.
Unassumingly located within a suburb, the winding driveway down into Blue Moon Acres entices one with views of the barns and fields, and livestock milling about. Host Lianne is quick to welcome as she proudly tours her property and the campsites, as well as the many friendly animals that call the farm their home. Chickens, goats, sheep, and bunnies, all of which are quick to greet guests and politely ask for a pet or a cuddle.
Beyond the barns, fields open up, bordered by an impressive forest, and the Little Qualicum River. When we stayed, our site at the edge of the field backed right against the river, providing tranquil ambience and the opportunity to have a quick cool-off literally steps away from our rooftop tent. Walking through the field along the fence line and into the forest, a trail emerges, cutting through the dense ferns below, with impressive trees towering above. Follow the trail for just a couple minutes, and one is met with additional access to the river via a log bridge taking one to the other side. Here, the river is a bit deeper than near the campsite, offering opportunity to swim and fish, or simply relax. Coming as a pleasant surprise, when we stayed, the river was quiet, with hardly anyone else around, creating a very private and peaceful experience as eagles and kingfisher flew above.
Back on the farm, the sites are well maintained, with room for most campervans or pickups, and smaller RVs. Do note, that in order to access the sites, one must drive through the field, so be cautious if in a vehicle with lower clearance. Each site has a picnic table provided, with some extras available that can be moved to a different location if one wishes to make camp within the forest line as some other campers had done during our stay. Other amenities available include access to fresh water and a farm stand where Lianne sells produce from the farm. Of course, the biggest ‘amenity’ in my mind is the river itself, which cannot be overstated.
Off property, one is mere minutes from Qualicum Beach – both the town of and beach itself. In town, one can find groceries, cafes, and restaurants, with the beach being long and sandy, perfect for sunbathing, skim boarding, swimming, or grabbing a bite from a beachside eatery (I’d recommend the suitably-named ‘Shore Restaurant’).
With the incredibly peaceful and private location adorned with a supremely friendly cast of both animals and host, bolstered by access to a phenomenal river, Blue Moon Acres truly can’t be missed. I would undoubtedly stay again.

We are so happy that we found Lianne's farm! Our site was right next to a beautiful river that we swam in constantly. There was enough to explore just on the property alone with all the animals and river spots but it was also a perfect central location for exploring Qualicum. The camping was great but what really made the stay special was Lianne's hospitality and attention to detail. She brought us flowers and a propane campfire on our first night. And she was always available if we had a question or needed anything. It was our first hipcamp experience and one we will always remember. I can't wait to come back again soon. Do yourself a favor and stay a few days to really settle in!
