We are nestled between some cinder hills, close to the Painted Desert. It's a peaceful place where you can relax and enjoy the coyotes howling at night. Pieces of old pottery and crystals can be found while walking on the nearby cinder hill. Learn more about this land: Camp far away from town with amazing night sky views and rolling cinder hills around you. It's very quiet and peaceful with some short hiking opportunities right next to camp with amazing views of San Francisco peaks (while hiking/walking). Bring your own tent or camper van and enjoy the milky way at our amazing night sky view. The campsite is 35 minutes from the town of Flagstaff and approx 2 hours from the Grand Canyon. Other attractions nearby: Grand Falls, Walnut Canyon, Winslow, Sunset Crater

Desert Camping - Amazing Night Sky
Great campsite near Flagstaff
Great secluded spot only 30 minutes out of Flagstaff! The whole area is beautiful and the campsite is no exception. Natalie (the host) was very welcoming and communicative. Stars were amazing too!

Desert Camping - Amazing Night Sky
Natalie's place is perfect for easy camping/sleeping in your vehicle. There's lots of space and privacy with the trees that cover much of the land. Great little shower and compost toilet on site. Natalie and her family are very sweet and helpful, good communication I would certainly stay again.

Desert Camping - Amazing Night Sky
The stars were indeed awesome and the property quiet. Host Natalie was super nice and accommodating. The site offers plenty of spots for pitching your tent, level ground, not rocky. The hilltop just west of the campsite makes a great little hike. The bathroom is a roughly-constructed particleboard shed and the "composting toilet" a five-gallon bucket under a bench with conventional toilet seat/lid. (Sadly, the bucket was lined with a plastic bag, so it's doubtful they're really composting the waste.) It was too cold, cloudy and windy for the solar shower so on our third or fourth night we hit the Flagstaff Athletic Club. (A $15 one-day pass included access to pool, gym equipment, jacuzzi, dry sauna and steam room.) Anyway, we enjoyed this HipCamp as well as the Flagstaff area; if you're looking for a modest rate and know you'll be comfortable with simple, rustic facilities, this is a very decent choice.

Desert Camping - Amazing Night Sky
Amazing stay! Felt very safe and Natalie and her son were sure to make us feel welcome. Very cute campsite - was clean, had a fire pit we could use, and beautiful views of the national forest.
