This a traditional site in the heart of the farm next to a small pond with picnic table and fire pit. It is a sloping wooded space, with flat spots to comfortably accommodate 2-3 tents. There are multiple trees perfect for hanging your hammock in the shade. The compost toilet, about 50ft away, is shared with another campsite. Parking is on a gravel lane adjacent to the site. Potable water (from a frost-free hydrant) is available about 80ft from the site.

The pond is only for viewing, no swimming or fishing, please. We have nesting birds occasionally and we expect their habitat to be respected.

We are 3 miles from Terra Alta, a rural town with a locally owned restaurant and a local craft beer brewery featuring an exciting rotating cast of food trucks. We are 20 minutes from Swallow Falls State Park (MD), featuring Muddy Creek Falls, awesome river swimming and gorgeous hiking in an old growth Hemlock forest.  We are also 20 minutes from Herrington Manor State Park (MD) were there is a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing.  Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away.  Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore withing 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away.

We welcome campers of all kinds!

We began operating our 150 acre farm in 2011 and became the first Certified Naturally Grown Livestock farm in West Virginia in 2013. We raise 100% grass-fed beef, Western and Chinese medicinal herbs. Our family garden supplies more than half of our vegetables and our favorite berries.  There are no GMO's, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides used on our farm.

A quiet and peaceful spot. We booked the site adjacent to the pond. The site was spacious and equipped with a picnic table, a trash can, and a fire ring. The privy with a composting toilet was a short distance away, as was the shower and the water spigot. The other campsite is closer to the main house but it was not occupied during our stay so we didn’t see or hear anyone else. We found everything as described and we would gladly camp here again in the future. I should mention that I was traveling by motorcycle and it is necessary to travel almost 2 miles on a gravel road to reach the property. It was definitely manageable but useful to know if you are traveling on two wheels.

Pond Place at Possum Tail Farm is beautiful! Jennifer and her family were very kind and welcoming to us. Great amenities (composting toilet, solar shower, fire pit and picnic table). You’re just across a little creek from the neighboring site but still have plenty of space and privacy. Just a short drive to great hiking (Blackwater Falls, Cathedral and Coopers Rock state parks in WV and Swallow Falls/Herrington Manor in MD).

Awesome view of the sunset and can hear the bullfrogs and peepers singing at night, wake up to the sound of cows and birds!

I was able to make it fine in a small, low profile car with front wheel drive but some of the roads on the way there are unfinished or gravel so keep that in mind!

Beautiful setting. We will be returning. Lots of shade and wildlife. Bring bug spray, but the bugs weren't bad considering that you're next to a small pond.

The camping site, outhouse was very clean and well kept. We loved the meal options and Jennie and her family were very helpful and responsive. The view was gorgeous watching the sunset on an open fire. We’ll need to revisit again to see the farm animals! Thank you!

This place is magic. Tucked away in a peaceful valley, on a lovely family farm that practices organic and sustainable farming. The host family are welcoming and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Don't miss the delicious breakfast, and be sure to look at the excellent food products on sale.

Everything was great, perfect for what we needed it for. My only complaint would be, we didn't realize there was a second camp site on the property, that was reserved. Highly recommended!

Great site. A bit close to the house and other site but lots of trees and quiet made it feel secluded. Wonderful host that was extremely helpful and also left us alone to do our thing. Absolutely would stay here again. Beautiful property and surroundings.

We appreciated the beauty of the surroundings, the balance of privacy yet nearness to the main house and the one other canpsite, the hands-off approach of the hosts, the very clean potty, the quietness of the campers at the other site, the buckets to carry the bundles of wood we purchased in advance, the cleanliness and upkeep of the sites themselves, the pretty walks around the farm, the sound of the family playing frisbee together in the morning, the fire ring, the huge picnic table, the cute little foot bridge that connects the two campsites, and the generous check-in/check-out times. We had a great trip!
