Wild and wonderful West Virginia! Camping at our place is not for everyone, but if wild is what you're looking for, this is it: raw nature! Alone in beautiful forest wilderness! Multiple primitive camping sites available (near road with drive-in access) on 250 remote wooded acres. All sites except one=no neighbors/no other campsites anywhere nearby - just blessedly quiet, peaceful seclusion from people! We were practicing social distancing before it was a thing! Variety of sites available: old-growth forest, high meadows, or edge of the forest beside small bubbling creek (& if you're super adventurous: under giant rock overhang/cave way up the holler)We don't count <16 as extra guests, so bring them at no extra charge. (We want kids coming to enjoy the wilderness). Bring your dogs or horses along and let them experience a personal private wilderness area with you. Get outside and get wild! Camping available in all seasons (check the weather though).Stargazing w/o light pollution; dozens of bird species to hear & see.. Foraging for mushrooms, ramps, more wild food in season w/miles of trails wide enough for UTV which make for great hiking (from super easy to super challenging). Total privacy wherever you choose to camp. IMPORTANT NOTES: Driveway not always suitable for cars w/no clearance. If we're not there on your weekend, there's no bathroom access (sorry) but bears poop in the woods, right? So can you! Also, speaking of bears (see what I did there?!), WVa does have black bears & a year ago we saw one on trail cams in upper meadows (never seen it in person, so we doubt you will either) but other sites are far from this area.

Host was amazing! The road to the best camping spot requires an older 4x4 truck or SUV as the trail is overgrown. The creek was stagnant at the time of our stay and since we didn’t want a bunch of pinstripes from branches going to the secluded camp site we decided to move on and stay at a familiar site 5 hours away.

Sorry it didn't work for you! I guess we're best for hike-in tent camping or UTV ride-in tent camping (or, you're right, in a truck that is okay with branches pinstrping it). I don't think we'll ever want to groom the trail to so open there aren't any encroaching branches. Thanks for the feedback.

It was a blast! Couldn’t have been more of what I was looking for. Found some sweet spots to set up camp and had no one around for the days I needed to clear my head.

Great directions from the host. Friendly and in contact as needed.

We loved this campsite! Quiet and secluded for sure- it took us about 45 minutes of back road driving to arrive, and it was a beautiful drive and everyone along the way was so friendly. We hope to return some day- the only thing I would do differently would be to get there earlier and camp further back in the woods so we couldn't see the road from our tent.

Booked last minute and luckily stumbled upon this site. The host Kelly was out of town but was still very accommodating every step of the way. Even went through the trouble of making videos showing me the area and how to get to camp! I stayed at camp three. Tucked away, very secluded and peaceful. Definitely need 4wd to get there but I assume if the hosts are home they can get you there on their utv if need be. A great way to spend the holiday weekend. 10/10 definitely recommend!

We had a fantastic time camping at Kelly’s 250 acres- just amazing. We camped near an old homestead near the campsite. We could only imagine living up the holler in the past. We slept to the sound of a babbling creek which was close by. The sunset was just amazing from the top of the hill and we even got to see the meteor showers later in the evening. We would recommend 250 Acres Remote Forest in central West Virginia. It is just as she describes in her video of the campsites We will be back again! We want to share this with some of our friends and family next summer

This site was absolutely everything we expected and more. From the beginning Kelly was clear about the property and what it entailed. She provided ample directions and resources to ensure we were knowledgeable and comfortable with the site. Unfortunately she was not there during our trip but she was very responsive and communicative all the way until we arrived. There were tons of hiking trails to explore and the landscape was beautiful. While the land is not far from the road to get in, we were completely secluded and surrounded only by the nature around us. For us, that is exactly what we wanted. However, multiple camp sites were available closer to the main entrance for those who don’t want to hike that far into the woods. I would highly recommend this property for both the camping experience as well as the hospitality. There is too much to explore in one weekend so we will definitely be coming back.

Oh my gosh! Thank you for your wonderfully accurate review. Our place isn't for everyone, but for those certain people it's a fantastic experience. Glad you guys were our kind of campers!

Kelly’s place was very nice and so was she! Here’s just a few things to keep in mind if deciding to camp at Kelly’s. You definitely do need 4wheel drive. We were in a low small car and the little creek was no problem just as Kelly said. However, right passed the creek is a massive hole in her driveway. My husband filled it a bit on our way out. Also although her videos show you can drive to a certain point, if the grass is high like when we went, we ran over a giant stone that was part of a fire ring that wasn’t visible in the grass. Again, if you have four wheel drive then none of this is a problem. We hiked to our spot which was I guess a 7-10 minute hike. Depending on how slow we were going haha. Unfortunately, you do have to go thru someone else’s property which is definitely not as nice as Mrs Kelly’s and it’s a little unnerving. There’s an old bus seat and tires around. Once you get back to Mrs Kelly’s there’s no garbage anymore. We would like to return if we have four wheel drive and would definitely bring friends. It was a little creepy being there alone since Mrs Kelly was away the days we were there. Also we were extremely careful to do all things “bear safely”. That being so, the recommendations where to not eat at your camp so that was a bummer.

Glad you enjoyed parts of your visit - I guess "mixed feelings" are better than "terrible"? Sorry my neighbor's property is unkempt. Hope you do come back when I'm home and can drive you around the whole property in the UTV.
