Background: Shallow Springs is a working Ranch with acreage set aside for Hipcampers who have their own area for enjoyment. You may catch a view of horses being ridden or cattle grazing. Our pond has been fully renovated for the ducks, where seating is available for viewing. We have a flock of chickens and a friendly ranch dog. There is a nest of Bald Eagles in the vicinity that frequently fly overhead. Don't be surprised to wake up and find deer strolling by. Feel free to relax and watch the animals in their habitats. Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on a leash when not in your campsite.
Bring your bike and access the Larry Scott Trail located only 4 minutes or one mile by walking from the ranch entrance. The trail goes on for miles throughout the valley and to the downtown boat marina. This is great for biking or hiking while catching fantastic views of local properties.
Shallow Springs is a 70 acre Ranch located just 15 minutes from the historic victorian city of Port Townsend. You can enjoy the wineries, micro-brews, farmers market and a variety of festivals, among numerous other fun activities.

Great area close to port townsend
This was our third time staying at Shallow Springs Ranch but the first time in the RV spot. We love the property and how quiet and peaceful the area is. My parents brought their 24' trailer. They had to level their trailer but other than that didn't have any issues with the spot. I appreciated all the amenities that were provided at the site - two picnic tables, a fire pit and ring (we used propane since there's a burn ban), dog bags to clean up after your dog, and Joe and Elisa even left a hammock stand for us to use with our hammock! We are looking forward to coming back next summer!
Lovely working ranch
Shallow Springs Ranch shared their beautiful property with us. We stayed in the foothills above their ranch on a private secluded area. It was very quiet and clean. Elisa showed us their sanitary area which included trash cans and VERY CLEAN porta potties. I would definitely stay there again if we are visiting the Port Townsend area again.
Beautiful, quiet camping
We stayed in the RV site which was huge and totally private. It has the most beautiful fire pit I've ever seen. Unfortunately there's a burn ban going on so we couldn't take advantage of it during our stay. Definitely add on the 1/2 dozen eggs - they were delicious! Friendly, helpful host and excellent porta potty/sani station. Absolutely recommend!
Gorgeous peppery! recommend!
A beautiful property very close to Port Townsend. The Host personally greeted us. While we were the only campers on our particular night, the sites were immaculately maintained and seemed quite private. Maybe the cleanest port-o-potty I have ever encountered. We appreciated the information stand that provided pamphlets on location attractions. Absolutely recommend!!
We loved our camping trip to Shallow Springs Ranch! Elisa was responsive, extremely helpful and just incredibly kind. The camping part of their property is very large and each camping spot feels pretty private from the others. It also felt pretty new - new fire pits (that we didn't use due to the burn ban), freshly pressed gravel roads, clean porta potties, etc. We would absolutely come back for another stay and have already recommended it to our friends!
Perfect peaceful property
Beautiful and peaceful property. We loved all the wonderful hiking paths and how quiet the campsite was. Next time we are in the area we will be coming back here.
Spacious and private camping sites
Best Hipcamp we have stayed at! We were in the RV site and it was massive, an entire private gravel loop. 3 picnic tables, and an impressive fire ring area (fire ban while there but it would have been awesome). All the other sites are spaced far away from each other. We had a friend tent cMp next to us and said the port-o-potties were very clean. There is a hand washing station too. Walking trails, and 12 minutes to Downtown Port Townsend. Plus Elisa was the nicest woman. But the privacy, space and location were great. Eggs were great too!
Wow! What huge camp sites that are carefully designed to make you feel secluded on your on
enjoy private pasture! The hostess was friendly and loaded with good information. But seriously, the camping spots were enormous!! Great stay option!!
First class hipcamp experience
This was our first Hipcamp stay, and Joseph and Elisa set a very high bar. Elisa met us and guided us to the huge secluded RV site. They clearly put a lot thought, planning, hard work and investment into the experience they provide their guests. Just a few minutes from downtown Port Townsend, but felt quiet and remote. Well done!
