Terry is an excellent host!
Terry made us feel welcome to his campsite! We enjoyed talking to him shortly after we arrived. He shared his unlimited firewood which we used to stay warm as we camped in the cold pre-winter November.
Terry is very knowledgeable of local fishing spots and shared a few of his favorite locations for our next visit in warmer prime fishing weather.
We really enjoyed the privacy and setup of the campsite. Would love to return in another season to stay again!
Secluded beautiful fall trip
What a wonderful piece of property tucked away from everything. This was a place I will be back too. The river is super close there is a pavilion, tire swing, wood plank swing. So much fun here.
What a view
A paradise off the beaten trail. Wonderful signage to help lead you back through the property. We arrived as the sun was setting and experienced a beautiful sunset over the peak changing leaves, truly amazing. The spot itself, a nice tin roof covered pavilion came in handy for the tents as rain was expected in the morning. Wonderful big firepit and ample firewood. Plenty of great trees for hanging up hammocks. The outhouse didnt have tp, but we brought some with us luckily. The entire experience a wonderful treat. Terry came down and said hello, talked fishing with my son.
A wonderful host.
Will most definitely be back again for a relaxing tube float and fishing in the warmer months!
One drawback--zero fault of the host.....the active traintracks. A very active train track that sounds like its barreling down on you, whistles blowing in the diatance, but wakes a lighter sleeper about 5x+ during the night. Wont deter future stays....but earplugs are in order.
Terry’s campsite was the perfect weekend getaway. He had great communication prior to our arrival and his visible signage on the property made it extremely easy to get to site even after dark. The campsite was serene- there are beautiful mountains in the distance and we were just steps away from the quiet river. The picnic tables made it convenient to cook our food, and there was plenty of firewood provided at no cost. Terry made it a point to greet us to make sure we had everything we needed for our two night stay. Thank you, Terry, for your hospitality and we look forward to coming back!
Book this now! you won’t regret it!
I can’t speak highly enough of our trip here! Big and beautiful spot right on the James River with a gorgeous view of the mountains and very secluded. Terry even provided wood for the fire pit. It didn’t rain while we were there but if it did, there was a spacious covered area with some tables. Very close to places to hike like Roaring Run Falls and Douthat. I wish we had brought tubes - could’ve easily walked up river and floated back the the campsite. Great fishing too. Bottom line is if you want a nice quiet getaway on a beautiful piece of land, this is it!
This was the perfect location! Everything we could hope for and then some- the site is surrounded by beautiful views, stocked with all the firewood we could need, and our pup had the best time splashing around the river. Thank you for a great place to stay! We’ll be back!
This was by far one of the best camping experiences of my life. The location and setting are perfect, the landscape is beautiful, and the covered pavilion is a great central feature of the site, especially in the rain. I highly highly recommend this site and Terry was a friendly, responsive, and accommodating host. Will definitely be back!
Great place to camp, we had a great time. The campsite has plenty of room for multiple tents. The whole camping area is in the shade which is nice. The river was about waist deep and good for wade fishing. Multiple put ins up river to float back to camp. Terry was great and came down to check to see if we needed anything. Good supply of fire wood at the site which was a plus. All in all a good place to camp and have a good time.
Total privacy in a gorgeous spot
If you want to be around zero others while camping, choose this listing! You’ll have the entire thing to yourself. There’s a pit toilet if needed, and a nice covered area with picnic tables. The river is close and the train tracks are on just the other side which is awesome if you like trains! You hear the whistle in the distance, but no train whistle at camp. The views are to die for! Great for stargazing, too. The fire pit is amazing! You’re literally in shade the entire time if you want, but there is some open space as well. The nuts falling from the trees added some unexpected excitement, kept us on our toes! Terry was quick with responses and fun to talk with when he came down to introduce himself. Can’t recommend this listing highly enough!
