Peaceful Hobby Farm - Powered
We camped at the powered sites and really enjoyed our night. Loved being amongst all the animals and noisy cocktails. We able to have a fire and found the spot ideal for a tent. Owner does have an unsightly tent on the side which was a bit strange, but other than that no complaints.

Farm camping
Such a lovely spot and only 2 hours from Melbourne, we were looking for a private camp spot over the Easter long weekend and wanted to escape the crowds and have something secured ahead of time. Pietro was a great host. We camped in the dam paddock with all the chickens and a lovely old black horse - our children LOVED it. We arranged to collect eggs for our meals each day - they were delicious, highly recommend.
Lots of open space to walk, and so many animals to go look at, including cows, goats, donkeys and newborn piglets. There were other campers in an adjacent paddock but were really far away so felt private. We went into Yarck & Alexandra for day trips and loved the area. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure

A unique rural experience
What a great get-away we had over Easter. The weather was not on our side but the experience on Pietro's farm was wonderful.
Pietro offered us a spot high overlooking the valley and across to the ranges to our south west. The variety of farm animals was amazing. Pietro's Italian heritage came to the fore, there were donkeys, ducks, pigs several varieties of goat, banded cattle, black sheep with other varieties, a couple of horses, free ranging hens and a zillion cockatoos plus five farm dogs. The views were wonderful and despite the weather we managed a 20 km round trip cycle into the local town pub for a superb lunch. Pietro's hospitality was wonderful and as he has a restaurant in Melbourne close to our home I'm sure we are going to have the pleasure of catching up with him again soon.

Lovely property & host was very welcoming - a few points worth mentioning;
Area is small & tight if you’re pulling a van/trailer, with only a very small strip of flattish ground to park on (NOT a pull through site) & be careful of ankles.
1 other flat area however owner has left his own ripped tent erected that not only blocks the view but also takes up a large portion & is very much in the way when trying to manoeuvre (and we only have a 4 metre caravan)
Site is also the chicken run so be aware that naturally, there is a lot of animal droppings & if your dog is not used to being around free ranging around animals it could be hard.
Very handy having the new toilet & sink however the toilet had very obviously not been cleaned 💩 as pointed out by the owner who said he would give it a clean before leaving but didn’t.
Was also good being fenced in & able to shut gates as after initially meeting with Pietro & his dogs, he then had to leave for the weekend for work. Unfortunately the maremma dog was very standoffish & barked relentlessly at us even when inside our van. Tried to explore the farm the next day & were unable to leave the yard & also weren’t able to let our dogs out as she was growling & barking at the fence. Was a bit unsettling and disappointing. She eventually was okay with us but not our dogs.
The kelpie was very sweet but jumped up & scratched our car on arrival.
All in all an okay stay and grateful for the good points, but wouldn’t return.

We really enjoyed camping at Peaceful Hobby Farm. Pietro was a wonderful host, the facilities (including a new toilet!) were terrific and the valley was incredibly peaceful. Perfect spot for a young family to camp with all the farm animals around (kids can help with the feeding). Yarck (great food!) and the Rail Trail is not too far away, and it's a short drive to explore Bonnie Doon, Alexandra & Eildon. The powered site had plenty of flat areas for our tents and space to move around, and a great view of the ranges, particularly at sunset! The site was fully fenced, so again safe for young children. A great spot to totally unwind and enjoy a complete break from city life! Thank you Pietro!
