A great camp site and well looked after. Appreciated the grass and firewood. We stayed at the Sunbury site and had a lovely time.
It's quiet enough even when the other sites were full. It is close to the road leading in to the area though so not completely private.
The toilets were appreciated but needed a better clean. It didn't look like it was recently cleaned.
Overall, a lovely experience. Directions were also very easy to follow.

An exception campsite with plenty of private space and area to setup. The campsite is very well maintained and the complimentary firewood is a huge plus. The toilets were also maintained daily and were relatively clean.
The only con is that I messaged the host on Hipcamp several times with questions which were never responded to.

Very spacious area that was perfectly separated from other campers. We enjoyed the view of our surrounding. We appreciated the area being maintained and tidy. It was great experience

We had a lovely time. So peaceful. Sites are generous, with good spacing between. The long drop toilets are excellent. Little lights on the outside to help you during the night, and a little night light inside. The loo itself is an adapted Thetford portaloo with a pump handle to flush. We took our own potable water in, as recommended, and were pleasantly surprised to find a 15 L container of water at our site. Also, the directions to the site in the booking, and once we arrived were really clear. The loo also had a board with some suggested places to visit too, emergency procedure and info on fire ratings. The fire pit was large and wood provided, although we didn't use it this visit. I would definitely return.

Our second trip to Stonor site at Ellimatta and would highly recommend. We had a camper trailer and a dog and camped in the lower area which is perfect for privacy and a reactive dog. Great spot to base yourself for river swimming, wineries , wonderful country pubs and 4wding . Very peaceful and sites are well spaced out. Thank you again Lisa

Our first time staying at the Gembrook campsite. Excellent. Clean and well maintained. Nice flat grassy site. Grass slashed. Drop toilets cleaned twice a day throughout our stay. Beautiful bird life. Very hot conditions but good communications on status of fire bans etc. Definitely recommended for children and extended stays. We will return again in the future.

Sunbury
Sunbury was a great spot for a couple of vans with kids and grandparents. Plenty of room to run and play with a good cover of grass and good distance away from the other sites. Toilet was cleaned daily, deep fire pits and plenty of cut wood supplied.
Its a shame the creek was dry but that cant be helped in mid summer.

Flat sites, plenty of room and well spaced apart. Lovely afternoon shade with still plenty of sunshine for the solar panels. Toilets clean and stocked, someone has been busy preparing plenty of firewood. Well situated in the King Valley, close to plenty of things to do while feeling a million miles away.

Absolutely top notch spot for visiting the King Valley. Stay here and avoid the horrible free camp at Edi Cutting. Our site, Sunbury, was the most private of the sites at “Ellimatta”. Plenty of room.

Absolutely stunning property, well laid out with plenty of signage. It was so lovely to enjoy an afternoon around the campfire.
Make sure you stop through town and visit the sourdough stall.

Great spot. Easy to find and access.
Probably better suited to a winter or spring trip, as we went in summer and it was quite dry. King river was only 8 mins or so away, so still accessible. And Moyhu was only a short drive out too.
The site was clean, toilets well maintained and we were left a very generous amount of firewood for our stay which was great. And the resident donkey provided quite a few laughs as his bray was very loud and echoed through the valley. All in all, a nice spot, our pup loved it and we’d go back again, when it’s a bit cooler next time.

The location feels wonderfully secluded and the stars at night were incredible. There weren’t any animals visible when we went, and you are situated very close to the road. The overall experience did not match the price point although we still had a good time.

Had the entire campsite to ourselves for 7 days, was one of the most beautiful peaceful spots have been to in a while and In the middle of all the attractions. Will be back again if travelling through these ways again. Free firewood and plenty of it.

Gob-smackingly beautiful and peaceful property. We stayed on Stonor's 'upper level', which has oodles of flat, open space. Grass was short and everything well maintained. Only a short 100-metre walk to the closest toilet. Big wood pile for all to enjoy next to the Heyfield site. Had a good chat to the gorgeous and inquisitive Highland cows in the adjacent paddock. What's not to love? (Stonor also has a decent-sized lower level with a firepit, but not suitable for my large front-wheel-drive motorhome.) HIGHLY recommend.

After being swamped out at our original planned spot I went on a last minute search for an easy camp spot for myself and two young kids. Although it was a bit further from Melbourne than I had wanted (3.5 hours with a stop), I’m so glad we chose this spot.
It was easy to find, I used Apple Maps and then on arrival a site map on the gate as well as cute signs on each camp spot. I counted 6 spots in total. We booked Sunbury because another review said it was more private from the other spots (which was true) but when we got there we had the whole place to ourselves anyway (last weekend of the Sept school holidays) so we asked if we could switch to Gembrook because it was slightly closer to the toilets for the kids. We had the perfect weather for the weekend. Clear warm days and clear sky night. The position for camping is great with full sun all morning and shade in the afternoon. There was no water in the creek unfortunately but the kids enjoyed exploring it anyway. So many different native birds visited and the cows were adorable.
There is an unsealed road opposite the campsite which didn’t bother us but might for others.
Wood being provided was a massive bonus for us as we only have a small car which barely fit what we brought to camp with. If coming with kids definitely bring a ball as there is large grassy space to kick around on. There was also plenty to do in the area with Glenrowan nearby we learnt a lot about Ned Kelly and also a market.
10/10 would go again!

What a beautiful spot to camp for the week. It was so quite and peaceful. We sat around the fire with free firewood and enjoyed the views and the stars.
The cows were cute, the donkey was hilarious, bird life was great and we even saw an echidna. We also had out dog with us and she loved the open space.
great spots nearby, Wineries and Breweries down every street, Must visits Last street Brewery for the cordial tasting.
such great fun, we will be back again soon.

We loved our stay Ellimatta. Even though it was a long weekend, there was plenty of space between camps, toilet was clean and we had plenty of firewood available. The highland cows was an added bonus.

A good site for a beginner. Just enough out of the way, well maintained, with the valley protecting you from wind ect. The supplied wood made things easy and a *fancy* toilet setup meant even our non-camp friends had a good time.
