100% would stay here again! After 7 weeks on the road, this was our last stop before going home and it was exactly what we were searching for! Super peaceful and we loved it. Our 2wd and NOT off road van handled the drive in well enough, though there were a number of potholes and some deep rivets we were able to easily navigate those and got in / out easily. The ground fire pits were huge but unfortunately the communal wood was mainly wet and rotting, but that's to be expected in winter! We probably would have taken wood in with us if we realised that it was wet, would be great if the owner offered loads of dry wood for an extra fee. Our main reason for booking was my obsession with Highland cows and the bulls were in the paddock next to the camping area so it was great being able to see them. We stayed in Heyfield site which was super close to the toilet and wood pile.
So glad that properties like this are offered up for camping, we left very happy campers indeed.

We loved camping here in our van at the Gembook site! Each site is spaced out well, so it truly feels like you're there all by yourself. We woke to the creek flowing and the birds and frogs singing - just magical!

Excellent spot! Sites were huge, plenty of free firewood. Toilet facilities simple but clean. Loved seeing the highland cows even if it was only for a short time. The sound of the donkey was hilarious. Absolutely loved our 3 night stay. Didn’t want to leave.

Clean and peaceful. The toilet, firewood and fire pit was an added bonus. We didn’t see any Highland cows but we also didn’t go looking. Would definitely recommend this site.

Loved my short stay at Mill Site 1. Felt very private and was away from other campers and close to the toilet. Even though it was close to the road it didn’t feel it. Beautiful sun filtering through the trees late afternoon and peaceful waking up to the kookaburras in the morning.

Elimatta was great! We stayed in the Sunbury site which was almost like being on our own. Toilet a short walk up the hill, the cows are adorable as were the odd kangaroo and the neighbouring camel! Much enjoyed Easter break, short drive to nearby Millawa and Wangaratta

Our second trip to Ellimatta, spent 4 awesome days exploring the camp and wineries in the region. Plenty of fire wood and toilets were cleaned twice daily and spotless. Animals for the kids to see and easy access to our site. See you guys next year.

Such a great place to camp, the sites are huge with great views and the Free Fire Wood is the best. close to wineries, breweries and great food but far enough away to be peaceful and quite.
This is the second time we have camped here and we are already planning a third.

Happy a beautiful night next to the fire. We stopped in for the night on our way back from QLD with our two dogs. The view of the starts was something else was so magical. Woke up to a beautiful sunny day and a visit from the cows 🥰

Great little site. Toilets were clean and close and there was always plenty of fire wood. The cows were super cute but there was a dinket nearby that made some pretty insane noises. Site is open to 8 people but theres not massive amounts of flat ground if you have more than 1 caravan

An absolutely beautiful property, with peaceful & tranquil surrounds. Great access for our 23 foot caravan (staying on Mill Site 1), very convenient toilet located nearby and very easy to go for a lovely bushwalk from the property. So many options a short drive away also. We'll definitely be back!

We loved camping at Lisa's land Gembrook site at Ellimata. Clean camping ground, quiet surroundings, clean toilet facilities, flat ground for tents. Will love to return! Loved the visits of cows, kangaroos, rabbits

Mill Site 2 was really peaceful and tranquil. The kangaroos and birds, distant rooster and the delightful Highland cows made our stay special.
We came in from Whitfield so different directions to the app. Road was a bit rough for our motorhome but we managed.
There is a rustic toilet at each camp site - cassette toilet and generously supplied with toilet paper - we were self contained so didn't use the one on our site. (Prob could have been a bit cleaner).
The campers at Mill Site 1 were close by. There was another lot of campers at the lower campsite. It's a fairly open area but everyone was respectful.
I think we had the best spot 😊
There was no communication from the hosts.
We would love to come back midweek and hope to be the only ones here. Imagine the tranquility and freedom of space - we loved our stay.

A great camp site and well looked after. Appreciated the grass and firewood. We stayed at the Sunbury site and had a lovely time.
It's quiet enough even when the other sites were full. It is close to the road leading in to the area though so not completely private.
The toilets were appreciated but needed a better clean. It didn't look like it was recently cleaned.
Overall, a lovely experience. Directions were also very easy to follow.

An exception campsite with plenty of private space and area to setup. The campsite is very well maintained and the complimentary firewood is a huge plus. The toilets were also maintained daily and were relatively clean.
The only con is that I messaged the host on Hipcamp several times with questions which were never responded to.

We had a lovely time. So peaceful. Sites are generous, with good spacing between. The long drop toilets are excellent. Little lights on the outside to help you during the night, and a little night light inside. The loo itself is an adapted Thetford portaloo with a pump handle to flush. We took our own potable water in, as recommended, and were pleasantly surprised to find a 15 L container of water at our site. Also, the directions to the site in the booking, and once we arrived were really clear. The loo also had a board with some suggested places to visit too, emergency procedure and info on fire ratings. The fire pit was large and wood provided, although we didn't use it this visit. I would definitely return.

Our second trip to Stonor site at Ellimatta and would highly recommend. We had a camper trailer and a dog and camped in the lower area which is perfect for privacy and a reactive dog. Great spot to base yourself for river swimming, wineries , wonderful country pubs and 4wding . Very peaceful and sites are well spaced out. Thank you again Lisa

Our first time staying at the Gembrook campsite. Excellent. Clean and well maintained. Nice flat grassy site. Grass slashed. Drop toilets cleaned twice a day throughout our stay. Beautiful bird life. Very hot conditions but good communications on status of fire bans etc. Definitely recommended for children and extended stays. We will return again in the future.
