Great host, great site!
I needed an affordable place to stay for an overnight job with less than 12 hours notice. Melinda was very quick to accept my request, and answered all my messages immediately. I chose to stay near the horse field rather than the woods, which was a nice open spot overlooking the mountains.
Although I only wanted to spend one night, I so wished I could have stayed longer. The roads would be great for road biking, there's easy access to state parks, and you're only a few short minutes to the Middlebury and Vergennes.
Overall, it was a great bare-bones site by a great host. Would absolutely recommend!
This was a very unique and beautiful site. To access the site, you pull into a grassy road in between the family farm and the neighboring meadow. My boyfriend and I were having difficulty understanding where to park our rv (the first portion of the road is the host's property) but with Melinda's help via text and over the phone, we were able to find a great spot. Melinda and her husband were extremely welcoming hosts who were kind enough to bring us out a fire ring (and wood because we forgot to bring our own). We had a great night and have never before been able to see so many stars!!
Beautiful overnight near middlebury
Beautiful stars and sky at night, and sunrise in the morning, parked next to a beautiful meadow field. Great location with very easy access to Middlebury. Breakfast in Vergennes is just a few minutes away, and a beautiful drive. Melinda stayed in touch with directions, and marked our overnight parking spot with a fire ring all set up for a campfire. A good spot for an overnight stay between Middlebury and Burlington.
Pleasant, quiet rural camping
Melinda was super kind and helped us find our site at night. The spot was quiet, cool, and dark, a roughly cleared area where our car could park conveniently nearby. The property was really beautiful and seemed fun to explore if we'd stayed longer.
Lovely camping in vt countryside
Melinda and her husband were some of the nicest people I’ve met on this planet. They made sure we were able to find a good spot to camp and helped us with a fire. They really seemed to care that we had an enjoyable experience, and we did! We had a great time talking with Melinda by the fire and learning about some of the animals on the property. There’s a lovely ox and two horses, plus great views of the country. We only stayed for one night because we are on a bike trip but I could have happily stayed a few more days. It’s not far from Middlebury so you can stock up on any necessities. A great spot to camp and great hosts!
Melinda and her property are the best. She lives on a massive farm and was very generous to let us pick the best space to put our tent. It’s perfectly secluded with incredible views of the sunrise and sunset. We parked our car on her long driveway just a few steps from the site but it felt like we were in the middle of the woods. She was just a phone call away if we needed anything. I would highly recommend for anyone - whether you’re looking for wilderness camping or something on the easier side.
One night stay with a nice view
We stayed for one night after seeing music at shelburne farm. We parked our small trailer next to a beautiful pasture. It was quiet and perfect for our one night adventure.
Melinda was very helpful and friendly. Would do it again.
