Marvelous getaway in the green mts!
Lovely cabin nestled among the Green Mountains. Caroline was just the right amount of in touch. She had fired up the woodstove and stocked the woodpile ahead of my arrival, which was lovely. It was quiet save for the nearby river, and I only saw one group of people during my stay. I definitely enjoyed my time and will be back in the future.
Several things I will mention about the overall experience:
There is in fact a picnic table next to the outdoor firepit (the listing says there isn't one)
There are 2 bunk beds and a queen futon frame, but no mattresses, so you'll want to bring a sleeping pad of some sort (I knew this ahead of time and had an inflatable mattress that worked just dandy.)
The last bit of road that approaches the cabin is really rough. Once I knew what to expect, I was able to carefully navigate my Honda Fit (!) with grace and only a little bottoming out. When I first arrived the last 100 feet or so was so icy, rutted and steep that it took me several tries to get onto the parking pad next to the cabin. I found that the most effective strategy was to back down to a relatively level spot, drop the engine into low gear and slowly and steadily power on up. I'm sure you'd have no trouble with a 4X4 or SUV, but beware if you have a vehicle that has low clearance. The last 1/5th of a mile of Cobbs road (before the cabin) is pretty rough, rutted, bumpy and rocky. Take it slow.
Approach to the cabin notwithstanding, I had a fantastic time. Thank you Caroline!
Awesome warm weekend in november
Highly recommend. Cabin gets very warm with the wood stove. Owner supplied a lot of wood, and warmed up the place for our arrival.
The cabin is very well stocked with emergency items or additional items you didn’t think to pack. Very clean! Floor clean and the new floor surface easy to sweep and clean from wood stove dust, rain weather or dog spilling water after drinking.
Very peaceful and quiet area/ weekend.
Relaxing, peaceful, fun and cozy
This place is picture postcard beautiful. If waking up to the sound of a stream is your bag. You will love this place. An absolute ton of things to do around hear or nearby too.
Beautiful & peaceful
We drove away talking about when we might be able to come back. This place is a treasure! The cabin is beautifully built with every amenity that you could imagine plus a fabulous woodstove complete with newspaper, Kindling, and firewood. The stream across the road was wonderful to fall asleep listening to and fun to explore. The walk out to the main road is a perfect 2 mile round trip. Lots of great hiking. We loved just sitting on the front porch. Caroline is the perfect host. We can’t wait to visit again!
We had a nice stay at the cabin. It is up a gravel road, but the last stretch of it is pretty rocky and I’m not sure a car could get up it without scraping. Luckily we took our truck, but a heads up would have been helpful. The cabin was stocked well and clean, but there are only super thin pads for the wooden bunks. I would highly suggest you come here with an air mattress or really good thick foam padding because the provided pads and 8 blankets didn’t allow for us to have a comfortable sleep. It is also very dark in the cabin so make sure to bring ample lighting. We didn’t see any hiking trails off of the cabin which was kind of disappointing but we did walk by the nearby river a bit. The cabin is visible to another cabin right past it, and people were going up and down on four wheelers but were no bother really. It is pretty secluded but the cabin is right off the road so may see people from the other cabins coming and going. We went into Manchester and had a great day hiking Lye Brook Falls with the dogs. We got some wood fired pizza and shopped around the local gift store. We had a pleasant time, but I must say I really wish there was something comfortable to sit on, or at least mattresses. It’s hard to relax when all you have to sit on is a hard chair. We ended up leaving a day early because we just couldn’t hack another night on the hard floors. Otherwise, a good weekend in a beautiful cabin. Thank you.
