We, Stephanie and Shawn, have been adventuring together for years and in 2020 wanted to start our own small business together. Than The Pandemic, so we waited, waited, went stir crazy and in 2021 decided to pivot our plan by purchasing our own piece of peace. We could no longer stay inside, looking out windows at walls and now we look out to nothing but trees, soaring birds and mountains in the distance.
Over time we hope to slowly cultivate the land in a sustainable, permaculture model to grow a range of native edible plants along with other sustainable crops that can live off the land without our intervention. One day in the future we hope our early guests will come back to enjoy an incredibly unique foraging farm experience.
Come out to Poppy Pines to escape from the modern grind and like the old prospectors said, there is gold in them hills; we think its the memories our family and yours are building in nature.

Welcome to Poppy Pines! Your hosts purchased this property in March 2021, seeking adventure. Our plan is to slowly add more native, drought tolerant, and edible plants to the property. We want campers to be inspired and rejuvenated, after visiting.
The campsite sits atop 40 acres, overlooking beautiful Shasta County. There is a wooden shed on the graded, level hilltop, and your group can feel free to park anywhere that's comfortable! You're welcome to use the shed's patio, for reading a book, having coffee, or simply sitting and taking in the views.
Next to the shed is an outdoor shower, created with rocks from the property. If you have a solar shower, lay it on the rocks, during the day, and hang it up in the evening for a hot, refreshing, evening sunset shower. Caution: Rocks get HOT, shower sandals are recommended.
We have a macramé swing that hangs from a large Gray Pine at the campsite. A great shady spot for some quiet time, and hanging over the hill is quite fun! Rocks getting down are a little loose, use at your own risk.
With spotty cell service the possibilities to find rest and relaxation are endless. A few of our favorite activities while camping at Poppy Pines are yoga, rock painting and animal watching. Bring some art supplies and pick a rock to add your own personal decoration to Poppy Pines. Hiking (also good mountain biking) Yolla Bolly Road is a great way to see the diverse animals and plants in the area.

*Hiking Disclaimer* within Poppy Pines hiking is currently limited by the rugged terrain. There are some wide open minimal incline areas to hike near the hilltop campsite. Guests can hike anywhere within the property line currently marked by blue/white tape hanging in trees. Forewarning, while allowed, attempting to traverse the ravine/canyon to reach the back of the property consists of very steep, rocky and maybe a bit dangerous terrain for inexperienced trekkers. The trailhead on the property goes on to the neighboring lot and we ask guests to please respect the property line (marked by a mini rock wall) by limiting their hiking to Yolla Bolly Road or within Poppy Pines.
Cottonwood Creek - Picnic/Swim/Fish - When coming down Yolla Bolly Road you will pass Cottonwood Creek Rd on the right. You can access Cottonwood Creek by driving down this road, the turn is a little over a mile from the Poppy Pines campsite. This is section of creek set aside by the Trinity Alps Preserve for local residents and their guests to access the creek coursing through the area, since as you can see from the campsite it is a long way down without a road. A short drive or fun bike ride, this is a great spot to cool down on hot days. If engaging in fishing please look up all local regulations/season and have proper state license. Golden trout are supposed to be in this area.
