We provide a walk-in only, primitive, private camping experience. Pitch your tent in our woods, just a short walk in from the road. Campsite 1 is close to the road and house, just about 50 paces in from the road. Campsite 2 is farther into the woods, uphill and offers more privacy.
The night and early morning sounds can be incredible! Coyotes, owls, loons, frogs, sandhill cranes, wild turkey, cattle, sheep and chickens too.
While we currently do not have many amenities, we do offer a get away from humanity, darkness , nature sounds , and campfires.
While our property does not include a lake , there are many within a few short miles.

Past trips
Gökotta (Swedish for "dawn picnic")
in Balsam Ridge Retreat, MinnesotaWelcoming , restful, warm and cozy!
I'm not going to repeat all the compliments in the previous reviews, (they are all true, we can't think of one negative comment!)
I will add that , being in the north country , you will encounter wildlife! Squirrels, birds, ravens, eagles, deer, black bear etc....
So that being said ...make sure you take advantage of the bearproof food locker ! We found that it does work! And Linda and Chris are quick to respond in the event a bear is trying to make off with the locker!!!
We will definitely be staying at Balsam Ridge Retreat again and recommending it to others!
The Edge
in The Edge, MinnesotaWe thoroughly enjoyed camping at The Edge! Kevin put a lot of effort into this place. Signs are professionally done. The outhouse is the best I have ever used. Cold running water, soap, and paper towels are provided . A storage area to keep the griddles etc out of the weather.
What we really liked was the swing over cooking grate. We didn't even get our camp stove out of the car.
The camp sites are private and have their own fire rings and picnic tables.
This would be a great place to have a family or group gathering.
We chose to set up our tent on site 3 which looked out on the shared area with the awesome cooking ring.
We did not have problems with mosquitoes.
The only tiny improvement I would suggest would be a hook to hang stuff from in the outhouse.
Wish we could have stayed longer!
