    All the remote solitude you want with amenities only a short drive away. 22 acres that border Big Bend National Park just 15 minutes from Terlingua Ranch Lodge. Great elevation changes and rock features for hiking and beautiful views. You'll have the whole property to yourself and are free to camp and explore wherever you like. The center of the property near the road is ideal for tent, van, or small RV camping. Christmas Mountain (+9,000 acres owned by Texas State University and open to the public) to the West, Chisos Basin of Big Bend to the South, and Terlingua Ranch Lodge 15 minutes to the North. Terlingua Ranch Lodge provides access to the swimming pool, showers, full bathrooms, wifi, cafe, and store. There are maintained dirt roads that lead directly to the property. While the roads are maintained they do require some care in places. There are some uneven sections, loose gravel and sand, and a couple steep inclines/declines. 4WD not required but some ground clearance is. SUVs, trucks, and medium size vehicles that aren't close to the ground should make it no problem. Smaller cars may scrape on rocks and require extra care/experience driving in rough conditions. We have hosted a 21' fully converted 10,000lbs. 2WD Sprinter van that was able to pass the roads. This is not a pull-off-the-highway-and-set-up-your-glamping-living-room place! Although you're certainly welcome to it if you're that committed. This is a primitive, private, rugged, way out at the end of a long dirt road, beautiful slice of West Texas.

    Rough Run Terlingua
    We had a great time camping at Rough Run. The remote location, being surrounded by the desert and mountains, and access to nearby amenities at Terlingua Ranch lodge made it perfect as a basecamp for a weekend of Big Bend exploration.
