Retreat to the wild peace, camp where the Plains meet the Hill Country. Camp in a fenced in 3 acres with a lovely stand of old Live Oak Trees with access to 210 acres of working cattle ranch with mountain biking trails. Fall asleep after viewing a colorful sunset and more stars than you see in many Dark Sky Preserves and wake to birds and bees in the pasture. Flying Cow Ranch holds a certain magic that unwinds the stress of a busy life. Many Harvest Host guests have called FCR the most peaceful place they have ever been to. Based on interest the magic is now open to even more campers. Currently offering dry camping; there are near future plans for electric and water for RV spots, composting toilets, one bedroom container homes, yoga studio, event space and BMX pump track.

The pasture and area at large are ripe for exploration. The pastures are primarily Bermuda grass with native wildflowers, prickly pear cactus, live and pin oaks. Track wild hogs, coyote, deer, raccoons, skunks, rabbits and more around the farm by observing tracks around ranch and 5 cattle watering tanks. Sunset and dawn are prime viewing time for deer and hawks. The cattle trails make good mountain bike trails. There are miles and miles of gravel and paved roads for bike riding, some of the best gravel riding in the country is here. The hosts can help you find a rout that will exhilarate.

Texas small towns have tons of unique experiences. Nearby town of Cross Plains has a Conan the Barbarian museum (seriously!!!), a truly excellent hamburger can be had at Backwoods Grill and shops for all the basic supplies you need. 20 minutes away is Cisco, home to 2 wineries, a brewery, Slowpokes Farmers Market with THE BEST PIE EVER and the Lela Latch Lloyd Museum, part of the texas forts trail. In this museum you will find relics from prehistoric and American heritage of the area including the Spider Rocks and Coronados Gold. Brownwood and Abilene are a quick skip away and have lots more food, shops and museums.

Perfect peaceful spot with an amazing veiw of the stars! We got there later than expected but was able to setup the tent and still had an amazing night gazing at the milky way! We will definitely be back when we have more time to explore!
