This was an absolutely amazing stay! Barbara, the host, is an awesome person and I thoroughly enjoyed staying in her cabin. She lives in the cabin next door, and was easily reachable if I needed anything. She knows a lot about the native flora and fauna in the area, and I loved learning about them. She provides literally everything, down to spices in the cabinet, rubber bands, and clothespins. I would recommend bringing a couple extra pillows if you’re a more than one pillow person, but everything else was perfectly stocked. There’s an H‑E‑B about a half mile from the property, and it made it really easy to stock up on groceries for the weekend. She even provided me with maps of the town, outing suggestions, and pamphlets on all the local flora and fauna. I very much enjoyed watching all the wildlife from the back porch, and I will definitely be back!

What more can I say about The Bird’s Nest except, I enjoy my time here so much I’ve booked it twice. And I will book Barbara’s place again this fall I am sure. She has created such an inviting and completely unpretentious spot right on the river. She has all of the amenities you think you will need. This time I didn’t bother to bring a cooler, because she has a fridge and HEB is right down the road. ENJOY!

Barbara's cabin on the Guadalupe River was the low key getaway we needed. The space is small but situated nicely and is equipped with all the essentials. The backyard was my favorite part - very natural and transports you to your own space in the woods.

We had a wonderful time and Barbara was so genuine and nice. The only thing missing was a longer time to stay! She was especially welcoming to my Winston (fur baby). Will be back for sure.

I've been to many bed and breakfast in my time but this was the best by far. The cottage was great. Sitting outside in the morning and the evening watching all that God has to offer us was just lovely.
Barbara was great and made the trip so enjoyable 😊. Loved it!

My husband and I spent our 5th wedding anniversary at Barbara’s little oasis on the Guadalupe, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The cottage was cozy and had all the comforts of home - kitchen supplies, A/C, comfy bedding, a small TV with satellite, a charcoal grill, even a fenced in yard that our dog loved (disclaimer, the fence may not be secure for larger dogs or escape artists though it was sufficient for our older guy). But of course what we loved the most was getting to enjoy the beautiful natural area around us. It’s described here as being the best of both worlds, secluded and serene while only blocks away from the amenities of Kerrville, and we learned during our stay that that’s no coincidence - owner and host Barbara has worked tirelessly through the years to keep the area as natural as possible while still allowing visitors to enjoy it. We got to take long walks along the lovely paved trail by the river, spent a whole day swimming and lounging in the shade of the cypress trees on Barbara’s own private river bank, and enjoyed a cookout in our little backyard as we watched the fireflies fill the air. It was a truly memorable experience made all the more special by the kindness and hospitality of our host. We can’t wait to return!
