Welcome to Horse-Hill View Campsite at Plentiful Hill!

Waking up to see horses quietly grazing on the nearby hill...what’s better than that?  Less than an hour from Nashville, this large campsite backs up to a seasonal creek (which is also awesome to explore when it’s dry) and offers plenty of shade and sun. It is perfect for one vehicle with one to two tents. This site sits right off the Field Trail and requires a short off-road drive and crossing a shallow creek bed, so decent vehicle clearance is preferable. There is lots of open sky at this campsite, so dark-sky stargazing is easy and amazing. :) (**Check out our other campsites for different options.**)

At the site:

  • Firepit
  • Umbrella table with five cushioned chairs
  • Hung hammock
  • Toilet bucket with privacy tent if requested (must provide own liners)
  • Small wash basin
  • Property/trail maps
  • Guide books for Tennessee wildlife, birds, vegetation

To note:

  • **Ticks and chiggers will want to love on ya during the spring/summer/fall.  Make sure to bring plenty of bug spray and be prepared to do “tick checks” throughout the day.**
  • Access to Horse-Hill View requires a vehicle with good ground clearance.
  • Don’t worry if you hear the occasional gunshot from neighboring properties; that’s common down in the country especially during fall hunting season.
  • Our farm dogs are alert through the night, so you may hear some barking up the hill.
  • Lights from our houses can be seen in the distance, but the site is private.
  • All trash and waste MUST be packed out.
  • Dogs are welcome and must not bother the horses or goats. Please pick up and dispose of waste.

We’ve developed and are continually maintaining trails across the 375 acres of Plentiful Hill. Some of the trails are wide and open and give you great access to the beautiful pastures. Other trails are narrow and twist through the unendingly interesting woods. All trails have names and are identified with signs and posted maps. The woods trails are also marked with flags and ribbons to help you stay on track. The terrain varies from flat and open to hilly and wooded.

Bring your bike to tour around the local country roads or try your hand at riding off-road on our trails. The roads and trails are great for runners too, so plan to get your exercise in while you visit!

The Town of Chapel Hill is 10 minutes away and has a Dollar General, small grocery store, some restaurants, a laundry mat, and a few boutique shops...enough to satisfy all your needs while visiting!

Henry Horton State Park is 15 minutes south of us, and it has several playgrounds, trails, an outdoor pool in the summer, and access to the Duck River.

We’re less than 30 minutes from Spring Hill and Lewisburg, less than 40 minutes from Franklin and Murfreesboro, and, surprisingly, less than 50 minutes from downtown Nashville.

About Plentiful Hill

We are proud of our wild homeplace and love sharing its beauty and peacefulness with others! Plentiful Hill is 375 rolling acres of beautiful woods and spacious open fields on the northern outskirts of Chapel Hill, TN. It has a pond, several cedar glades, marked hiking trails, an historic family cemetery, a seasonal creek, a variety of wildlife, and Buckeye Ridge, elevation 1,112 feet. The anchor of the property, our white, two-story farmhouse, was built in 1812.

Three generations live on, love, and actively use this land. On any given day, someone in our family will invariably be riding a horse, taking a Gator ride, running/hiking the trails, or out working on property tasks. Every effort will be made to avoid your campsite area during your visit.

Plentiful Hill is a wild place. We aim to make it accessible and enjoyable to visitors, but we ultimately submit to the inescapable power, beauty, and essence of nature. Please anticipate and prepare for normal outdoor issues including bug bites, snake encounters, and severe weather.

These are difficult times for a lot of folks, and we want our property to be a safe and inviting place for people of all backgrounds. It's important to us that people of color, those in the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone else who might sometimes feel unwelcomed in outdoor spaces feel especially comfortable and accepted while staying with us.

Corinna and her family gave the personal touch by meeting us in person the day we arrived. This place was perfect for anyone wanting to have a secluded getaway for mostly primitive camping. You will be near a creek with plenty of wildlife. The site had a table and chairs, fire pit, hammock, and information about the family farm. They included guides, and information along the hiking trails about the history. I really enjoyed seeing the old structures and reading about the history of the land. The trails had snack boxes along the way. I’ve never seen this before and it was a great addition.

We opted to get some farm fresh eggs, this is highly recommended as they really are top quality and made a fantastic breakfast. We also got the bucket of firewood and that made making a fire easy that night. I’m definitely coming back to see the rest of the trails. Thank you Corinna, I look forward to staying with you again.

The host communicated very well with us. We ordered a dozen fresh eggs, firewood, and dog treats when we booked it. Our group enjoyed the warm welcome, the beautiful scenery and a bright, sunny weekend. We plan to come back next year!

Wonderful place to camp. Owners were reaponsive, site was well maintained. Enough space between sites for privacy. Access to hiking/walking trails was great with kids. Have already recommended this host and sites to friends!

We loved our stay at Horse-Hill view, starting with the fun drive through the property and across a stream (SUV/truck with clearance advised). Unlike campground areas, expect a private camp area and personalized service from the Owner (Corinna) who was extremely helpful and checked in on me and our two grandkids who had a blast petting the horses, playing in the stream and camping under the stars away from city lights. Highly recommend Horse-Hill view. You will not regret it!

Fantastic place to stay! So peaceful, clean and welcoming. Corinna was so accommodating and kind, meeting me even in my late arrival. The spot was perfect, I only wish I had allowed myself more time to relax and enjoy. I will definitely be back.

My Honda Element made the creek crossing without issue but I can see that you would need a higher clearance vehicle to get to Horse Hill

View of the horse pasture. Lots of shade and also sunny spots. Great for tents or vehicle camping. The ground is mostly grassy, hard packed soil. So peaceful!Hammock ready to go in a creekside location. Lots of other potential hammock spots too.

I had a wonderful stay at Horse-Hill view campsite. The site was perfect! There was a babbling creek running close by and the star gazing was amazing. Corinna was a perfect host. She met me at the property and showed me to my site where there was a bundle of firewood waiting. I loved sitting at the table under the umbrella watching the horses graze. I will definitely make this one of my go to camping spots.
