While me and my wife enjoyed our camping trip we have mixed feelings on this location.
Location: Beautiful area. However, the directions were terrible. We passed the driveway twice before we figured out that it was the entrance. The host needs to put up a sign or place better markers at the entrance.
Campsite: We booked the Pine Forest Camp. We were told it was the first clearing on the right, “next to the wood pile”. The site was very overgrown. We spent the first hour clearing it so we could make camp. There was no sign, no fire ring, no other indication of the camp site.
The lake: Unless you are camping on the lake, you do not have easy access to the lake. We were specifically asked to not enter the other camp sites so it left us with only a small section of waterfront that was difficult to get too. If you are bringing a boat or kayak you will have a tough time getting in, which bring me to my next point.
The host: A few days before our trip I asked the host if he had kayaks we could use. I saw other campers mention this in their reviews. He said he did and would drop them off to us when we arrived. The day before the trip I emailed him to remind him and he confirmed. Well, we never saw the host or the kayaks. We had absolutely no communication from him while we were there. The lake was a big reason we wanted to camp here so this was a big disappointment.
Alex was an incredibly good host! I reached out at the 11th hour looking for a spot to take my son and his buddy to sleep under the stars and Alex got right back to me to confirm. Then he went above and beyond, bringing us some extra firewood he had. I will be staying on his property again in the future!
Great site in a beautiful pine forest. We were looking to get out in nature away from others, and this site delivered. Alex was a great host and gave us some tips about the property and to check out the lake at sunset! We were able to hang out down at the lake in the morning as well.
Goes on the keep list.
Beautiful property in the lake. Private. Spectacular kayaking. Ideal for paddle boarding. Or canoeing. Host is awesome. Great communication. Willing to teach our Scouts about forestry with eager attitude. Great place for Scouts. Great place for large families. Safe. Secluded. Easy to access for tents or even Class C boondocking.
