Wanhtharra nyundu! Welcome to Guugu Yimithirr country, Hopevale.

"Maaramaka" means Curtain Figtree.

We are located just outside Hopevale, QLD. Our campsite has an outdoor cooking area, toilet and hot shower amenities, so all you need to bring is your tent, food and utensils.

Sit around the campfire to share stories. Sleep under the stars and experience the rainforest. There is no noise here, just the sounds of the animals. There is a shallow creek in which you can refresh yourself in during wet season.

Come and meet the owners, Gerald and Irene. Gerald has 20 years plus knowledge of working in these types of areas.  He takes self-drive tourists and groups from all over Australia on cultural walks through the two types of rainforest talking about the medicinal values and uses of the local flora.

Irene is 80 years of age and an author of Guugu Yimithirr story books. Irene runs sessions for people where she will read her books and teach basic Aboriginal language words while showing how to make some damper dough to twist around a stick and cook over the coals.

Camping fee is

- $20 for adults

- $10 for children aged 10 to 16 years (please book under "child fee", and

- children under 10 camp for free (don't add to booking but do send us a message advising how many under 10s will be with you).

Really lovely property, so peaceful. The owners Gerry and Irene were lovely. The kids loved playing in the creek on the property.
