This listing is for Dispersed (Primitive) Camping.  Dispersed Camping sites do not have fire pits or picnic tables provided.  You walk in and find the perfect spot to pitch your tent.

The entire property consists of a little over 100 acres along the Shenango River, voted 2021 River of the Year in Pennsylvania. The back two thirds portion of the property which is the widest, is designated for Dispersed Camping.  This area is not preconditioned for camping and the trail is ungroomed. There are no designated sites, you walk or float in and find the perfect spot to pitch your tent.

To enter the Dispersed Camping Area  there are two entrances.  To begin following the river, you will want to enter by the launch area.  You will walk along the river and come to the junction of where Hogback Run enters the river. You can also cross over and explore on the other side of Hogback towards the river. This land is also part of The Property.  From this junction the trail goes into the woods and you will come to the back east gate, head south (this trail is groomed) and exit at the Oval campsite.  You can also enter at the Oval site and walk in from there.  The entire walk around Dispersed Trail is approximately 45-60 minutes.  Take water!

This trail has just been cut so be cautious of where you walk as it is unmanicured.  Boots or hiking boots are a must.

If you want to fish and camp, or you just want to go primitive, Dispersed Camping is right for you.  Hike in and find your perfect spot to pitch your tent on this primitive portion of the property.  You can also drop in your kayak or canoe from the launch area and float to your personal camping spot along the river bank.  No vehicles are permitted in the Dispersed Camping area including ATVs.  All vehicles to park in the Parking Designated Area.

Note that other Hipcampers may also be on the property camping at the same time. There is a limit on how many campers (4 sites per night) can access the Dispersed Camping Area.  Campers staying in the Designated Area are permitted to walk the trail in the Dispersed Area.

Fires are permitted however please be smart about where you set your fire and be sure it is completely extinguished when you leave. No firepits are available.  See Rules and Guidelines.

The Launch Area is a common area for all campers to congregate and to drop in their kayak or canoe.  There is a firepit that can be used, but must be distinguished before leaving.

You are entering the woods - you have been warned -  Bring Bug Spray to repel mosquitos and ticks and watch for poison ivy!  You will see several kinds of wildlife including snakes, so be aware.

Please don't cut any trees when hiking through the area.  Brush cutting is permitted.  No hunting or trapping permitted.

A charging station for phones or other electrical items for emergency use will be located at Base Camp.  Best to have options for charging devices.

The small borough of West Middlesex has several places to eat such as the Golden Bear, Middlesex Diner, and Nancy's Tavern.  There is also a Family Dollar and convenient store close by.  Hermitage is a larger city that has more restaurants and big box stores that is located north on Route 18 less than five minutes away.  So even though you will feel you are miles from civilization, you have all the conveniences nearby.

This property is truly an ecological paradise that I'm sure you will enjoy.

It's my pleasure to share it with you!
