I had a perfect night at the High Road Cabins! I was completely alone there, which suited me fine, and some may not have found it comfortable to not have the host on site. It get remote yet you could hear occasional highway traffic. Long drop was clean and well lit. The trees were peaceful and I felt very safe with the locked gate. Easy access from I-84

This site was a great place to camp in the Blue Mountain Range. The directions provided were perfect and easy to follow, will definitely be looking to stay here again when traveling to Moab or Tahoe!

The spot was a decent place to stay for the night. I got in late and left early, so I didn’t necessarily experience all it had to offer. There are options for stealth camping for free on BLM land in the area, which is what I would normally do, but I’m not familiar with the area and wanted to make sure I had a for sure place for the night. If stealth camping isn’t your thing and/or you’d prefer to have a sure thing set, this is a good option. There is a well-maintained pit toilet a close walk from the tent spot. There are solar powered lights that direct you where to go. There are some grill and fire pit options if you are wanting to make more use of the space (though fires are sometimes banned in the area due to wildfire risk). I arrived at night and was able to find the place easily with Mark’s directions. As I approached the gate to enter, motion a activated spotlights turned on, which alarmed me at first, but were very helpful when grabbing the keys and opening the gate. Overall, it’s clear Mark has been really intentional with this space and it’s a good option if you want a step up from primitive camping in the area.

This is the BEST stop on a cross Oregon road trip. Just 3 miles from I84 a peaceful and calm respite from freeway driving. Way better than the 2 nearby state campgrounds I’m my opinion. A beautiful clean pit toilet in a cute outhouse. If you are ok with dry camping ( we love it) this is the place to be. Never tried the cabin but there was a writer there getting time away. Campsite was flat, picnic table helpful, occasional car on the forest road behind us but nothing bothersome. Mark is a great host. Very responsive, flexible, helpful with questions. Thanks again Mark!!

This was an okay spot for a last minute booking. Location was pretty nice but the camp spot was not great. Dusty with lots of machinery and recreational items laying around the property. Would have been nice to have them behind a fence so as to not look at.

Response from Mark, the Host, on August 11th, 2021

Christina is absolutely spot on here. Tent camping in a forest in July will be dusty. Add to the fact that "Covid inspired" camping (everyone is getting outside in anyway they can) has made all mountain roads in our area extremely busy and is cause for far more dust than normal. She also said we have "lots of machinery visible"--correct(ish). We have 2 snowmobiles (parked way off to the side) and a 6x6 small tracked vehicle nearby. If dust from a road a few hundred yards away, through thick forest and/or seeing snowmobiles and a 6x6 will reflect poorly on your overnight stay, I would book elsewhere. If you can get past those issues, it's a secluded, quiet place where the general public making noise at a campground won't ruin the day. Note: we will be bringing in some gravel to help mitigate some of the dust closest to the camp spots. This is definitely not a Hollywood TV show, picture perfect camp spot. This is a real world, we use our cabins and rent them out, so real life happens here kinda camping spot. No matter where you end up camping --> "Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy." Guillaume Apollinaire Safe Travels to all, Mark
