Notes about COVID & smoke first... then the description of our lovely place!
We ask that any guest that can be vaccinated come fully vaccinated to our farm. This is our home and business, so we're trying to keep our family and co-workers safe in shared family/work/guest spaces. Our family and co-workers are all vaccinated. Also please note that Union County has a low vaccination rate. Please consider this in your planning. We would love to see you, but we want you to understand the conditions on the ground here so you can make the best choice for you.
Wildfire season note:
Please keep in mind that wildfire season is June-September. We have bad air off and on. The tiny house is equipped with an air purifier, fan, and AC unit to help mitigate the smoke. You can keep track of the air quality in Cove and plan accordingly at the airnow.gov website and type in our zip code--97824.
Our wooded farm is located on the edge of Cove, Oregon at the base of Mt.Fanny. Our farm is a working, family farm. We raise produce and a few animals for ourselves, our community, and the region.
We love to welcome visitors to the farm and experience farm life for a few days. We also love introducing folks to our beautiful region.
We offer a tiny house for rent that has a full size bed for two people with fresh, line-dried sheets and lots of plush pillows. A kid can sleep on a pad on the floor (2 if you don't mind a squeeze.) Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent adjacent to the tiny house.
We can accommodate two additional guests for an additional fee. This includes kids, so please list them as additional guests.
The Tiny Farmhouse:
The tiny house is rustic and small and full of light. It has electricity and is heated with wood. We now have AC and a ceiling fan to keep the place cool along with shade awnings and trees.
There is "running water" in the kitchen out of an old-fashioned crock that we fill from the spigot outside. It is outfitted with a gas cook stove, fridge, plenty of wood, and a fully outfitted kitchen. Near the tiny house is a composting toilet. There is access to a bathroom with a shower, an office for remote work, and wifi in another building on the farm a few hundred yards away. Please ask about office availability.
The tiny house is located next to a creek surrounded by oak and ponderosa pine trees. It has views of the woods and our pastures.
Staying in the tiny house is an experience somewhere between camping and normal life. We don't call it glamping since it isn't glamorous--it is rustic. We know it isn't for everyone, but we love the tiny house like a member of our family. It kept us warm, dry, and happy for eight years before we built our current farmhouse. If you like unique experiences and don't mind roughing it a little, then you'll love it, and we'll love to have you as a guest.
We welcome visitors of all kinds--folks passing through, hunting, or just visiting eastern Oregon.
Our family farm is focused on produce production and we have a menagerie of animals. We love showing folks around the farm and letting you experience farm life.
Our farm is wooded and hosts a lot of wildlife including foxes, deer, raccoons, hawks, song birds, quail, pheasants, and we are especially proud of the five species of owls that live here seasonally.
At the drive to our farm is our self-serve, honor-system farmstand that sells local produce, eggs, baked goods and coffee roasted right here on the farm.
We live on the Native lands of the Cayuse, Umatilla & Walla Walla past and present and honor with gratitude the land itself and its people.
The farm is located on the west side of the Wallowa mountains in the Cop Copi or Grande Ronde valley--one of the largest round valleys in the world. We are 8 miles from the Moss Springs trailhead into the Eagle Cap Wilderness and within 30 minutes to an hour drive of many other trailheads into the Wallowa, Elkhorn, and Blue mountains.
From our farm you can easily access cross country, resort & back country skiing, mountain & road biking, hiking, birding, and Hot Lake hot springs for the day. We are 10 minutes from historic Union, 30 minutes from La Grande, and 45 minutes from Baker City and Pendleton. We are about two hours from Wallowa Lake.
What we can offer you:
Farmer Nella Mae Parks and her husband Michael Hatch are outdoor and nature enthusiasts. We love helping folks plan their trips, see and appreciate northeast Oregon regardless of your previous experience in the outdoors. We are very tied into our community and can recommend hikes, bike trails, white water, gear rental options, vistas & sites, restaurants, and more depending on your interests.
Nella Mae runs the farm and Hatch is the director of the Outdoor Adventure Program at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. He can recommend outdoor activities and also rent gear to the public through the OAP.
Nella Mae is a horseback riding enthusiast and visiting horses are welcome at the farm. They must be vaccinated and respect electric fences.
We also have electric car plug ins for use by guests. You need a NEMA 14-30 plug adapter.
Tours & Classes:
With advance notice, we can arrange a multi-farm tour around Union County or provide a gardening, food preservation, art, or baking class. We also teach folks western swing dance.
We offer a 10% discount for weeknight stays (automatic) and a 20% discount for stays six days or longer. Contact us for the promo code.
We kindly request:
As we have farm dogs, wildlife, and livestock, we require all visiting dogs, regardless of size, to stay on a leash at all times. No dogs on the bed!
Please visit the greenhouses and livestock with someone from the farm.
Please park off the driveway.
Please ask questions, let us know what you need, and let us help you if you're having trouble.
Please list all additional guests when you book including children.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Sincerely, Nella Mae & Hatch

This tiny home had everything we needed and the wooded location was perfect! The air smelled of fresh pine, and the owls greeted us in the mornings. Very relaxing and refreshing place to stay!!
The perfect tiny home in the woods. Peaceful, cozy, everything I needed and nothing I didn’t. Great additional activities and or farm- fresh goodies from Nella Mae’s farm. Super communicative and responsive. Easy to find, hard to leave.
This is a really magical place!!! The tiny house is quaint and super comfy! Well stocked with pretty much anything you would ever need. Nella Mae and family were gracious hosts and allowed us to wander through their beautiful property. All and all a fabulous experience!!!
Such a wonderful place to stay! We stopped over for a night but wish we could have stayed longer and explored the area. The tiny house had everything we needed to be comfortable, and the farm stand is stocked with an incredible assortment of fruits and veggies to make for a delicious stay. Couldn't have asked for a better host.
Peaceful and cozy.
Nella Mae’s was a delightful place to stay. So very peaceful and cozy. Wish we could have stayed longer. The fresh veggies were delicious. We felt very safe and appreciated the thoughtfulness when it comes to the health and well-being of her family and ours. It is well worth the drive from I 84 for the comfort and peaceful environment on our road trip.
The tiny farmhouse is perfect!
Nella Mae is wonderful!! The Tiny Farmhouse is amazing! If you are looking for a place to go, this is it! My boyfriend doesn't like camping but I love it so it was the perfect mix for us. We will be going back. An overall lovely experience. Thanks, Nella Mae!!
