A zen little farm with big heart
The place itself was peaceful and refreshing and the animals were a sweet presence. My kids and I had a favorite chicken and named her Becky. She let us hold her. Also Joe and his partner both extended extra hospitality--we didn't have enough matches and the girl gave us some and Joe let us come inside their home (I'm sure this is not to be expected!) when it was pouring and we needed to charge our electronics. Also, Taylor, their friend and fellow worker on the camp was such a kind and generous dude. He chatted and played music and showed my kids the animals. We will never forget him and his playful and gentle spirit. It was our first camping trip as a family and their generosity toward us was a surprise and a comfort. God bless Three Ponds!
Nobody likes a shady beach
Which is why you need a Shady Nest.
But seriously folks, this place is amazeballs. And Joe is a great host, real friendly, real cool, and we talked his ear off about the land and what is growing there, the animals living on the land, the progress that has been made since purchasing it.
And a LOT is packed into the 10 acres that he has.... including a creepy scarecrow in the woods. I only say this because we had not seen it in the daytime and post pool/hot tub time, we walked back to our site with our headlamps.... took a wrong turn .... and a longer path.... which brought us to said creepy scarecrow by the dim light of our lamps as we dodged freshly spun spider webs, and it brought all the Blair Witchy frightful feelings one might think it would bring. And we NOPED right out of there and back the way we came. No need to die tonight. ;) That said - just know it is there, cause not knowing did make it scary.
AND ALL THAT SAID - this place really is magical. And it was the perfect weekday stop along a very long road trip and the inviting hot tub after an 8 hour drive made us incredibly relaxed and we slept real well that night. There are wagons to bring your gear to the site which is helpful, and there are multiple compostable toilets so you have your pick of where you do number two.
We would definitely stay again. And if he ever wanted to sell the land, we just might look into buying it off of him, its just so dang wonderful.
