Looking for a quite get away on a peaceful secluded farm? Consider a stay at the "Smokehouse". Nestled at the far end of the Meadow at Pleasant Valley Farm Camp in a grove of trees, along a spring fed creek is the 'Smokehouse" where you can  unwind from the craziness of life. This is the original farm's smokehouse that was used in the the late 1800 - 1990 to smoke meat. The "Smokehouse" has been newly renovated into a primitive off grid camping cabin.  Inside you will find that all the wood timber framing was saved, cleaned and refinished. We have added a solar system with battery bank to allow for a ceiling fan for those warm summer days, and can lights in the ceiling. Sit at the desk inside the front window and enjoy the scenic and pleasant view valley between the crops and rolling hills. There are USB ports to charge your devises although cell service can be spotty.  Our one room cabin is equipped with a full bed. There are also 2 cots available to rent if needed. Along the rear wall sits a small wood stove for keeping warm and cozy during the winter, as well two hot plates on top on which cooking can be done.

Guest should be aware that the water ( hot and cold), porta jon, and outdoor camp shower are located a short walk to the opposite end of the Meadow.

FOR OUR WINTER GUESTS: Please note access is a gravel field drive, 4WD is recommended. Also the water in the pavilion sink is disconnected during the winter months. There is a frost free hydrant with potable water a short walk from the cabin.

My husband, daughter and I had a nice 24 hrs at the Smokehouse. The cabin itself was spacious and clean. Although we’re used to a queen size bed, we managed with the full. Our daughter slept on a cot provided by Sheila. Because the overnight low was in the 40s, we got the wood stove nice and hot…too hot actually and had to open the door for a bit 🥵. So if you’re not used to a wood stove, it may take some time to get the temperature just right. A few things we enjoyed about the property were the numerous hiking trails, friendly cows, and our 9 yr old especially enjoyed the swing and tether ball. I think the only drawback for us was the bed and not sleeping too well, but we knew it was a full size when we made the reservation and we decided to risk it anyway. Overall, we would recommend this place. It’s beautiful, remote, and Sheila was an attentive host with great communication.

Our family of 3 stayed at the “Smokehouse” cabin this past weekend. What a wonderful time we had! It sits among a grove of trees at the end of the meadow along a babbling creek. The hosts did a nice job of saving the old wood beams and walls of this 1800’s smokehouse on the inside while putting it together with a solar system, ceiling fan, can lights in the ceiling and a charging station for devices. We like tent camp but wanted a quick getaway and this was a great choice. Sheila had a cot set up for our daughter and the bed was made! The grounds are well kept porta Jon was very clean and a short walk away. There were plenty of trees to hang hammocks for chilling, and place to pitch tents if you want to camp with groups larger than 4. We will diffidently be back!
