This hip camp is a very nice secluded area to spend a relaxing evening or weekend ! The pond was very nice and there is a trail system at the back of property that is in Wayne national forest. A lot of area to explore and close to a nice little town to get what you need ! The general area is beautiful and I will return to explore some more in the future.
This is Hipcamp at its finest. A quiet, secluded piece of grassy woodland perched on a lovely bit of water. Close enough to Hocking Hills, but who cares? Behind it is a trail network that weaves in and out of National Forest. And as another reviewer suggested, this is hands down the best place for stargazing in Ohio. Bring a lounge chair and a pair of binoculars and get lost in the cosmos.
The owner was quick to respond and very friendly. He has a real passion for the neighboring town of Shawnee and is eager to share his land with visitors.
Strong Verizon cell signal, weak but usable AT&T reception (if you must). The camping is primitive, but there are full RV trash/dump facilities just down the road at Begley's ATV Campground in New Straitsville.

Bret’s land is fantastic. The location is very close to Shawnee which is a pretty town. My son and I were able to canoe and enjoy the property.
Everything is very well maintained.

Thank you Martin, please come back to see how Shawnee continues to progress!
We were right on the lake and spent the evenings fishing, enjoying our fire all will gazing onto the beautifully calming lake. During the day we hiked around various Hocking Hills spots.
Location was close to a very small town with a convenience store if needed, along with a local Tavern. Close to Hocking Hills without being in the thick of things. Secluded and tucked away from the main campgrounds that always seem to overflow with people.
Far enough outside the big cities to be able to see the Milky Way on a clear night.
Owner was extremely responsive and accommodating.
We will be returning!

Thank you Liz, you have to come back after we stock the lake in the spring!
