Watch the sun rise on one side of Troublesome Gap and watch it set on the other side.  There is a circle drive for 2 teardrop / squaredrop or pop up campers and plenty of spots to pitch tents.   There are also great spots to hang your hammock.

Camp where my family camps.  My parents bought the property in the 1960s and we have camped up here, hiked, hunted, and cut firewood many weekends.  We decided to share the property so you can enjoy camping up here too!

The property is in a remote location where you can enjoy the wildlife and the cooler temps in the summer.  You'll have 3 acres all to yourself.  You wont have to share the spot with anyone else unless you bring them.  The closest grocery store is an hour away but the Trust General Store with a restaurant and gas approximately is 7 miles away.  There is also a burger joint (Dave's 209) on the way to the Trust General Store.

This camping site is in a remote area and the nearest neighbor about 1/2 mile away.  Max Patch is about 25 minutes away and features beautiful hiking.

The quaint town of Marshall is about 30 minutes away.  Asheville is about an hour away.

The campsite is easily accessible from Baltimore Branch Road.  However Baltimore Brand Road (public road) is steep in places and we don't recommend an RV bigger than a popup camper.

We also provide a porta-a-john for your convenience.

Once the reservation is made, I'll send out an info sheet with important info like the gate combination.  Please let me know if you haven't received the info sheet within a week of making the reservation.

Camping here was great! Nice area at the top of a beautiful winding dirt road with all the amenities you could need. Having water and electricity if you needed was a nice addition plus having cell service if you need. The stars away from from the city pollution were spectacular! Montie really has a nice place to get away from it all.

Great campsite! Wind ruined our chance at a fire but still a great time nonetheless! Definitely would recommend!

Awesome place! Water access, port-a john, very quiet. Minimal traffic through the roads. Great place for lots of campers or families/just a few friends! We had 4 campers total and had a great time. Hiked up the mountain & back for some quick cardio. Wish there were better views, though! That’s the only downside. Very windy at night! Otherwise awesome.

Our group loved staying at Troublesome Gap. It was a wonderful base camp for exploring the area. The site was private and awesome!

We had a lovely memorable time, it was a bit chilly on the top, due to all the wind, but it truly felt like Fall. Large campsite, definitely room for multiple tents. The drive off 209 is gravel and GSP does end a bit short, but properties are cleary marked. We enjoyed Hot Springs, hiked Lovers Leap trail, cute little town for a stop if you have the time.

This was a great campsite and a ton of fun to stay at. It is on top of a mountain and the GPS isn't completely accurate when getting here. It was a bit further down the road than what the map said. It's a large camp site and there are a couple of benches to sit at and logs to use for a fire. The fire pit was great and Montie was very responsive about any questions we had. Hot Springs is only 30 minutes away and it's a very cool small town. Plenty of hiking in the area as well. The only issue we had was that the electrical outlet did not seem to have any current after turning the power on. We brought 7 people and they all loved it.

Troublesome Gap is an excellent spot to escape to and enjoy the natural beauty of Madison County. It is a very secluded and quiet location and feels quite remote, yet is well maintained. There is room for several tents and vehicles, and the site has a great setup with benches, a fire ring, and running water.

View from property entrance looking down Baltimore Branch Rd.Enjoying the fire pit on a fall evening.Roasting marshmallows over the fire. There is room from plenty of tents, surrounded by the woods.
