Experience life on the farm, camp under the stars, and play with the Nigerian Dwarf goats on this working farm in the foothills of North Carolina.

About the Property

What started as a hobby farm with 5 goats has turned into a very active homestead with over 20 Nigerian dwarf goats, dairy cows, horses, chickens, and the list goes on. In the foothills of North Carolina, just 15 minutes from Mount Airy (Mayberry for you Andy Griffith fans) and 30 minutes from Winston Salem, lies our quaint piece of heaven. As a homestead, we want to share with others what it's like to live a sustainable life.

The rolling hills give way to a wealth of activities in the area. Fill your days fishing in the Yadkin River, mountain biking at Fisher River Park, hiking at Pilot Mountain, canoeing at Hanging Rock State Park, or trying the wines at nearby Stoney Knoll or Haze Grey Vineyards.

We also welcome you to join us for the care of our animals if you wish. All are extremely friendly, and at times, free roam the land. We ask that you respect their space and their time. Please don't feed them. We have two large guardian dogs that protect the livestock by running the territory of our land. They are harmless and very loving to guests.

About the listing

Pitch your tent, camper van, truck, trailer, or RV, camp under the stars, and experience what it’s like to live sustainably.

We welcome pets but please leash them if they are not good with other animals. Our farm is free-range so please make sure you plan accordingly to leash pets.

The site is somewhat private so you may see other campers, animals, and Hosts about the property. Don’t be surprised if the roosters wake you in the morning or you hear the cows and other animals at night.

We will greet you upon arrival and give you a tour of our farm if you like, or we are happy to leave you on your own on a private side of the land.

Tina and Shane were incredibly hospitable hosts. We booked on a weekend where heavy rains had made the intended camping spot too wet to pull in our camper for dry camping. They helped get us settled in a spot right outside the barn and hook into house power. Although it may have ended up putting us a little closer than intended, it still made for a pleasant weekend. We got to know their dogs and kids very well and toured the goat farm that also housed horses, cows, a bull, donkeys, and chickens. They are currently renovating their barn front into a country store offering fresh goat and cow milk, a variety of cheeses and homemade soap. The store will eventually provide local produce and other goods. It was a great weekend and we are glad we booked.
