Great Fall Colors this weekend 10/29/21.

Come and visit our mini farm for a few days. Hug a mini donkey. Feed the goats.  Drink your morning coffee and watch the livestock graze, and the chickens scratch, right outside your front door.  Did you know that a donkey's bray sounds more like a donkey opera?

The small cottage semi-primitive. The tiny house has electricity, WiFi, small appliances, a double bed, sitting area, and wood stove. The composing toilet is outside the front door. There is also running water at the base of the deck. If you want to shower, you may use our house. Just ask.

This little cottage was built as a private space for our newlywed daughter and her new husband before they moved on to New Zealand. We now want to share this space with others.

The space is fenced in to keep the livestock out, if that is your wish. We will instruct you on livestock protocol. While our animals are gentle, they are livestock, stronger, and bigger than you, and can cause injury. We are not responsible for that.

There is a big fire pit in our yard that you are free to use.

Beyond the farm site, you will also have access to the creek, about a 5 minute walk down the hill. There is a common area where our campers are free to gather, sitting by the creek, have a campfire, or just relaxing and reading a book.

No dogs please. My dogs do not like strange dogs and can be unfriendly.

When I arrived to the farm I thoight I would have a great space for a quiet retreat but instead I was welcomed as a friend! Elizabeth and her fur babies were friendly, welcoming and absolutely brought peace to my stay.

My eleven year old granddaughter and I found the perfect place to “get away” and enjoy each other’s company! Our hosts were watchful and taught her how to interact with their animals safely-then she had a ball with goats, dogs, donkeys and chickens!

For me, there was a gate and fence since I like to “look but not touch” animals. Also, the comfort of a bed instead of a cot or sleeping bag is a must for me to enjoy the great outdoors.

We also enjoyed apple 🍎 picking, playing by the creek, driving through beautiful country side to Shilo General store; an interesting shopping destination.

There are many other outdoor activities in the area. My grandson would enjoy the “tensile tent, or the hammock camp sight. I’m hoping for a girls weekend in the “treehouse “ soon!

A pick your own apple farm is close by the Cozy Cottage and we made the most of it!We had a beautiful drive via 115 to Shiloh General Store. It is Amish run and very popular. We enjoyed seeing all the food offerings; bought blackberry jam and wildflower honey to take home. Then had lunch on the porch. $5 for a sandwich and chips! Our private cottage can be seen on the far left. There are interesting camp sites on the property with places to explore. We found this fairy and rearranged her little home.
