If you're only looking for land +picnic table/fire pit (no kitchen setup beyond that) to camp out on, then this could be your place. I was surprised that we were so close to other people meanwhile the property is advertised as very large and you can seemingly spread out. We chose it for the access to swimming, but it was not very easy to find nor advertised (lakeside) as pictured. There is no where to put trash or easily accessible drinking water on the property, as is standard for many campsites, state-run or private.

Love this campground. We were looking for a place where you didn’t have 100 campsites right next to you and this place didn’t disappoint. All the campsites are so secluded, we didn’t even see another group during our whole stay. Pamela was an amazing and welcoming host. We are definitely coming back next year.

to get the full experience you have to give Hilltop Camping a chance. It has everything on the checklist and it’s very quiet. Very peaceful spot & there is so much to do in Monticello, if you’re not at the camping spot you’re there. No problems whatsoever, if i were to come back i would!

I needed a last minute booking, so it was a relief when Pamela responded within the hour. Hilltop Camping is a huge, peaceful retreat not far off 17B. Stayed at #3 which was very quiet, spacious and level. There was a picnic table and fire ring with wood. Lots of gas stations in Monticello for basic necessities, if needed. Not far from Bethel Woods.

Site #’s well marked. Site 3. far side of van facing E/SEview from main house at sunset
