The caboose was a wonderful and comfortable space to spend the weekend with friends.

Jeff is a very friendly host and gracious with his space, time and firewood. I would gladly stay there again.

We really wanted to like this site and cute tiny house, but there were a few things that made our stay a disappointing experience. Check-in procedures were unclear. The site was not "private and secluded" as described in the listing. There were a couple houses nearby, as well as one across the pond, and vehicles drove up and down the gravel road (which was right by the caboose) more frequently that expected. The site/caboose could have been better maintained (there were quite a few spiderwebs, the shower didn't seem to have been cleaned in between guests, we saw a mouse in the bathroom fan, etc). We are used to tent camping, and saw way more bugs (moths and spiders) inside the caboose than we've ever seen while tenting. No information was left on how to operate the stove (we did end up asking Jeff, and he was very nice and explained that the diagram on the stove was actually backwards - it would have been nice for there to be a sign or something near the stove explaining that from the start though). There were some pots and pans for cooking, though they were all quite small. The water had a strong sulfur smell, though we were prepared for this based on other reviews and brought our own drinking water. A clearer description of the site/amenities, some more maintenance/cleaning, and a little welcome packet or something left in the caboose with instructions/explanations for things (such as the stove), would go a long way towards improving a stay here.

Lovely "tiny house" in the woods. My granddaughter and I had a wonderful time catching frogs in the nearby pond and walking on the many trails. Highly recommend it!

This place is truly a gem. Jeff was a great host. The Caboose House was such a cool place to stay. Sitting around the firepit watching frogs and turtles in the pond was serene. We saw a couple of deer wandering around the property as well. Its a great place to get away and still have some of the conveniences of modern life.

The Caboose was the perfect stay for fathers day! We could connect with nature and have such a peaceful family weekend! The hosts are super nice and the cabin is the charm itself! I can’t wait to be back!

Jeff was great -- despite having spent the entire previous day/night in the hospital tending to his wife, but he helped us out in a major way with a flat tire in the morning. The place is as described in other reviews and in the pictures. Very cool.
On the downside, all the propane was out so the stove did not work. The septic was extremely foul whenever we used the water -- so bad that it made taking a shower not worth the suffering.

Had a wonderful stay at Caboose House! Enjoyed sitting by the pond (was too hot for a fire) and having morning coffee or evening beers while listening to the frogs and trying to spot turtle heads. Jeff was welcoming and accommodating.

This tiny home in the woods was just what we needed to reconnect with nature. With a full bathroom, a propane stove, all the kitchen utensils you need, and a murphy bed and futon (sheets, blankets and towels provided), we got comfy and cozy before exploring the woods both on the property and in nearby towns. And a fire ring with benches nearby meant we got to enjoy both stove-top cooking and campfire smores! And thanks to Jeff for the tip about Rensselaerville Falls!
