This event brought us spectacular views, deep spring fed lakes and ponds, steep hills and giant rock formations. We are very close the Old Order Amish Community that offers a varied opportunity for shopping, homemade crafts, food, quilts and furniture. Their picturesque farms dot the landscape and remind us of a simpler, quieter and more peaceful time. Just 15 minutes away is 65,000 acres of pristine forest in the Allegany State Park. Numerous hiking trails and lakes and beach front surround you in this crown jewel of the New York State Park System. We are also just 20 minutes from the Lucille Ball National Comedy Center in Jamestown, and the prestigious Chautauqua Institute on the beautiful Chautauqua Lake.

Just passing through on our way out west, we found ourselves drawn to stay put, hear stories about the history & take in everything the area has to offer. Fred & Freida are absolutely lovely. We arrived in a downpour, 100% expecting to pitch a tent and figure out how to stay dry all night. Instead, when we arrived, Fred & Freida took us to a bunkhouse they had built for campers. We were quite delighted at the surprise of having a dry place to sleep! Thankyou Fred & Freida for the wonderful hospitality!
Perfect little secluded spot! They knew the mosquitoes would be bad so they provided a mosquito repellent lamp. Hosts went out of there way to bring us utensils and cooking grate.
Hosts were kind and met us despite us arriving later than intended to show us to our site. Nice open meadow area in the forest. Very private. There was a level area for the tent, and outhouse just down the hill. Also, a fire ring with chairs and table, which we didn’t end up using.
Fred & Freida were awesome hosts! I, unfortunately, didn't get out of work as early as I had hoped, and by the time we reached the camp, it was pitch black. Fred and Freida didn't seem to mind and took us to our site. Very beautiful and clean site. They provided us with chairs, two tables and even had firewood, kindling, and newspapers for us. I hope to return to camp here again.
We loved it here. Site 3 was tucked back in the woods with well more privacy than you could ever get at a campground and Fred & Freida were wonderful hosts. It had all the conveniences of car camping with the solitude of hike in camping. We would definitely stay there again if passing through the area.
Fred and Frieda are very friendly people and the campsites are very nice! A lot of natural beauty here and a lot of thought out into it… You’re less than 10 minutes from Allegheny here and very close to several stores just in case you forgot something on the way out the door ;)
