Welcome to the Taino Woods Church Sanctuary!
Our Fairy Magic Sweet Land of 12 acres in the Catskills is the perfect place to pray in nature, pitch your tent, gaze up at the stars, and unwind next to a nearby fire. We provide each of our guest with cedar to pray with the fire Great Spirit, set intentions, and release what no longer serves you. This raw, soft, organic land is a home teeming with life. Listen to the birds as they sing throughout the day and into the night. (We call them the fairies.) Look for the curious creatures that walk the earth like the frogs and newts. Open your ears to the sweet sounds of the East Mongaup River; and perhaps take the brief walk down to visit her.
LOCATION: Want to camp with a large group? No problem! The Atabeyra Bell Tent is a 300 square foot tent that can hold all of your needs. Eight people can stay comfortably in our bell tent. We offer two sleepable cots inside, so all you need is a mattress or a sleeping bag to lay atop. This campsite also has the space for two additional camping tents for an additional fee. This campsite has its own fire pit too. Please do not create your own fire pit.
AMENITIES: We have three outdoor bathrooms near the Atabeyra Bell Tent as well as two outdoor showers, one with hot and cold water and one with only cold water on the land. An outdoor kitchen with a sink, small stovetop, and basic utensils is available for all campers to use. The kitchen is a communal space, so campers must clean up after use. An indoor tent heater to keep you warm is available to rent upon request. Bundles of wood and fire starters are available for purchase. A single quad pickup to bring your belongings down to your campsite as well as a single quad return to your vehicle at the entrance of the land is available for purchase as long as prior arrangements are made.
PROVISIONS: Our land is home to an array of life. With this in mind, we highly recommend that you bring and use a bug repellent, properly check your body each evening before bed, and properly check your body when you return home. Common to camping in the Northeast are ticks. In addition, it is important that you store your food above your campsite in a tree or in your vehicle. As campers in the Northeast, wildlife including bears are a common sighting; so it is imperative that you are not sleeping with the food that you bring. Our purpose is to preserve the land, so we ask that you do not disturb any of the trees or foliage by carving into them, sitting on them, breaking them, or removing them. We prefer to not have alcohol on the land, but if you wish to indulge, keep it at your site, and ensure that the land is kept as it was or better when you arrived. Please drink responsibly and respectfully on your campsite only.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: A few excellent local restaurants include The Pickled Owl, The Red Dot vegan, Nelly’s Latin, and Tilly’s Diner. Hiking trails in Thompson Park, Minnewaska State Park Preserve, and Sam’s Point. Weekly concerts; Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, shopping centers, a casino Resorts World Catskills, and Kartrite Indoor Water Park can all be found in the nearby towns of Bethel, Swan Lake, and Monticello. The Kittatinny Canoes alongside the Delaware River in Pond Eddy. Silver Canoe & Whitewater Rafting
RIVER ACCESS: Campers on the upper campgrounds have access to the River from 8am to 7pm. Campers must walk on the path and may not walk onto the River campgrounds. It is a seven minute walk down to the River.
QUIET HOURS: 10:30pm to 7am. The owners will be on the land.

Amazing host! become one w/ nature!
Taino Woods was a real gem!
Chantel and Jessie were such gracious hosts! It was our first time camping with our kids, and we weren't sure what to expect. Chantel was very responsive to all of our questions. She and Jesse set up our tent, heater, table, and firewood before we got there. All we had to do was, jump right in and have fun.
The tent was easily big enough to sleep two families with two kids. It was a little chilly at night, but the propane heater kept us warm and toasty.
The kids had a blast exploring the woods and wading through the stream running through the base of the campsite. At night, hung out around the fire. Then we sat in the clearing and saw so many stars and a meteor shower!! It was majestic!
The best part of the camp was the wakeup call! Chantel and Jesse came by singing indigenous Taino songs connecting with the woods. We talked about the history of the land and learned about their tribe.
Chantel and Jesse created such an authentic experience where we really felt like we were one with nature. It was a great way to disconnect and recharge. The kids even forgot all about their iPads :)
Highly recommend it. We'll definitely be coming back!
A serene and magical experience.
I couldn’t possibly say enough good things about my stay in Taíno Woods. In one word, our camping trip was MAGICAL. Chantel is a kind and gracious host. Her land and campsites are clean and equipped with everything we could need. It was reassuring that every light and pump were solar powered for an eco-friendly experience. The full, luscious forest was serene and the shallow, flowing river was cleansing. I could have stayed forever. Thank you, Chantel and Jesse!
The hosts were absolutely amazing, the woods were well kept and treated with a lot of respect. The big tent itself was spacious and easily withstood a solid rain-storm. We felt welcome and the others staying in the woods were extremely friendly and respectful. Thanks for having us! We would be more than happy to stay here again.
