Leatherwood Camping Flats is set on 36 Acres in the stunning Towac Valley at the base of Mount Canobolas, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. Only a stone's throw to walking and cycling tracks, this camp site is nestled nearby Wine Cellar doors, pick-your-own fruit orchards, Lake Canobolas, and fine restaurants. Your camp site is a secluded 4 acre paddock surrounded by bushland and set beside the permanent Towac Creek.  A 15 minute drive will take you to the centre of Orange where you can enjoy great shopping, cafes restaurants and parklands. Your campsite is a 4 acre flat paddock on the 'Leatherwood' Property. Accessed from the entrance driveway and access paddock, it is a flat drive on paddock grass to the Camping site. The Campsite is flat mowed grass, surrounded by native bushland on all sides. Entrance to the Campsite is through farm gate, and the whole paddock is secluded, offering you privacy from anyone outside the Campsite. The permanent Towac Creek separate your site from the public parks and Lake Canobolas Road, while you may see other people through the trees across the creek, they have no access onto the Campsite.  Leatherwood is the home of the Quirk-Baker family, and we welcome you to our home. Your Campsite and is roughly 500m away from our residence, and completely private; you can't see us and we can't see you! :-) Your privacy to enjoy the local nature is assured, but we do ask your consideration of our privacy too. Our out-of-bounds areas are the house, sheds and surrounding yards, and please keep well away from the building site for safety reasons.  If you need any assistance with the site or your stay, you will be able to contact us. If you see and hear other people on the property, that will be us, or other campers in the campsite paddock. Nearest points of Interest: - Mount Canobolas Summit: 5 min drive or 1 hr walk up Mount Canobolas Road (1 min drive from the campsite) - Lake Canobolas Recreational Park: 4km drive - Mount Canobolas Mountain Biking track: 4km drive opposite Lake Canobolas - 7 wineries, within 5km drive each way on Lake Canobolas / Pinnacle Road / Wallace Lane - Fine dining at Fiorini's Italian Restaurant (2km) and Borrodel Vineyard (3km)

      Nice quiet little flat paddock. Surrounded by trees so felt quite private. We had the place to ourselves. A little tight getting through the gate ( we were towing a 14 ft van with extended draw bar ).

      I loved the gorgeous secluded spot. Listening to the sound of the water in the little stream was peaceful. It is in a great position for wine tasting and not too far out of town. Some nice look outs to drive to or walk to if you’re into hiking. Highly recommend.

      Base camp for a week exploring
      Lovely spot for the week. Very private. Nice flat areas for the tent and quite well protected from southerly/westerly winds. We had mostly dry weather and the ground was good but I reckon three or more days of rain would make it a bit boggy in places. The southern end had good shade during Autumn but might get hot in summer if you don’t have plenty of awning cover. You can easily cycle to the nearest vineyard and to Lake Canobolas, which has a great little cafe for those days you don’t want to cook breakfast, in around 15 minutes or less.

      This place is so good. Don’t wanna tell to many people though. So keep it to yourself. We loved it!

      Leatherwood was a lovely little patch of grass to camp on. Not a lot of water in the creek but still nice to stay next to the sound of running water.
