Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Visit Tathra, but stay at Kangarutha, only 2km from the edge of town, and enjoy space, privacy and tranquillity. We intentionally only have a limited number of campsites on our large property, so that you can enjoy camping in a natural setting away from the crowd. Our stunning property is comprised of open paddock areas surrounded by large areas of native forests, and we border national park. Enjoy the forest trails here on the property, which take you on a tour to our peaceful back dam. Or explore further afield - our place links to both the Tathra-Kalaru bike track and the Bournda National Park, where you can access the Tathra Mountain Bike Trail Network, as well as the secluded coves along the Kangarutha Walking Track. Our property was home to the former and well-loved businesses 'Kangarutha Nursery', and 'On the Perch Bird Park'. We have been busy re-imagining these spaces. We have drinking water, flushing accessible toilets and one hot shower a short walk from the campsites. Our property is dog friendly for well behaved dogs that don't chase wildlife or the horses on our property. No hunting dogs. Campfires permitted when there are no restrictions. You can gather your own wood, or we can prepare wood for you.

Big Paddock Creek Camp
Farm camping near Tathra
We loved tent camping at Lisa and Tom's farm. It was the best hipcamp we've been to. There was so much space for each camp-site even with it being the Easter holiday. The farm is gorgeous and as soon as you enter the driveway you feel a sense of calm. We were in the Big Paddock creek camp which is on the far side of the field near a pond and the paddock with the horses in. Loved being able to have a fire each night. The toilets on the farm were clean and easy to get to and it was great to have a hot shower. we will definitely be back. The farm is also only a short-drive to Tathra which is a great little town. Make sure to also check out the pub in town.

Round Yard Paddock Camp
Kangarutha gem
Such a fantastic piece of rural Saphire coast. We loved bush camp 2. - felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Starlit skies through the gums, just magical. Really enjoyed cycling into Tathra for breakfast at the superb Wild Orchid- great coffee by the way. I had a fab kitesurf at the beach. Wonderful lunch at Mimosa Winery. Lisa and Tom have obviously put a lot of hard work into landclearing and making the whole property look so beautiful- we can’t wait to come back again.

Camp by the Dam
Beautiful site
We loved camping here! A beautiful spot as described with lots of space around us. Short walk to the bathrooms and washing up room. 5 min drive to Tathra for food, groceries, drinks and a wonderful beach! One heads up: there’s no rubbish disposal at the site so to have to plan to take it all with you.

Big Paddock Sunset Camp
This is a cracking good spot! It was my first time using Hipcamp and was all really smooth sailing. The instructions to arrive at the site were nice and detailed, and the sites themselves are all well set out and private. The communication with Lisa and Tom was brilliant, and the amenities were fantastic too. Great service, great location. Very keen to return!
