**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** Cracknback Campground is situated almost half way between Kempsey and Armidale shires. They are each responsible for this road. The boundary between the two shires is at Blackbird Flat - which is 12 km from us towards Kempsey. The Armidale Shire section of road is officially closed (though not policed). We are obliged to pass on this information as it must be your decision whether to drive on Armidale Shire Road. There are also old signs still up saying road closed/landslip/turn around etc. Our working farm is located between Kempsey and Armidale at Lower Creek in mid-north NSW. We have grassy campsites right on the beautiful Macleay River, which is famous for Bass fishing, kayaking and swimming. *When you come here, our home is your home. Please respect the pristine wilderness and leave no trace. Clean up your camp and take your rubbish home. * Heaps of flat ground for kids to ride bikes * Watch tortoises and fish in the river * Beautiful mountain ranges and and such an open sky you can see the Milky Way * 30 roomy sites, flushing toilets, hot showers * We are dog friendly...if your dog is friendly. Please pick up after them. * Fire pits provided but bring your own wood Additional guests welcome at $20 per head per night over 15 years old. Kids under 15 years $5 per night.Additional guests welcome at $20 per head per night over 15 years old. Kids 5 - 15 years $5 per night. Under 5 free. DO NOT FOLLOW GPS!! Because the road is closed on live traffic, GPS will send you into backroads. Stick to Kempsey-Armidale road. Drive in a straight line until you see Cracknback signs. Dont drive over rock fall. It is sharp and will puncture tyres. Please be aware that the Armidale Council section of Kempsey-Armidale Road is officially 'closed'. We are 12km into Armidale shire coming from Kempsey. There are no restrictions on the Kempsey Shire section of road. It has not been policed and there are no barricades. Just some misleading signs (such as the VMS board at Bellbrook saying 'landslip. Turn around) . It has to be your choice to drive on Armidale Shire road. Cracknback is situated on the beautiful Macleay River in the Mid North Coast of NSW. The  campsite covers approximately 5 acres of private riverfront property. Cracknback is the perfect getaway spot to enjoy majestic mountains and pristine wilderness. Perfect location for bass fishing, swimming, canoeing or just chilling out under the stars.  Lots of flat ground for kids to ride bikes. Hot showers and flushing toilets give some creature comforts with basic, large camping sites. The property is located halfway between Kempsey and Armidale, nestled between working cattle stations and country homesteads. Fire pits provided but please bring your own wood. This is a 'leave no trace' property. We ask that you take all rubbish home and leave your site as pristine as you found it. This is a working farm and a work in progress! Welcome home

100 % recommend
Absolutely loved our time here. Group of ten of us and found the perfect spot, with plenty of space and our own access to the water. The owners were super lovely and even were able to borrow some tools to sharpen our chainsaw. Can’t recommend this spot enough. Toilets and showers were super clean.

Cracknback Riverside Camping
Quiet and enjoyable
Recently my family of four had the opportunity to stay with Beth. We loved it so much that we have added it to our favourite list. We stayed the Easter long weekend with a lot of others and never had a problem. The river was extremely enjoyable. The best part was the cleanliness of the toilets and showers.

Cracknback Riverside Camping
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hosts, Beth and Ben, were absolutely lovely. The river was great to swim in, we floated down the river a few times too! Also used the kayaks that were provided. Toilets and showers were great, very well kept, nice and clean. We got a perfect spot, site 11 I think it was, we were able to fit our 2 caravans in easily. I would definitely suggest a few nights stay here, its worth the drive. Did a day trip to Wollomombi Falls and Armidale. We went over the easter long weekend, and were surprised at how quiet it was.
