The campsites are 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 is best for RV's and taller setups as well as tents and site 2 is best for smaller vehicles and tents. The hill going to the site('s) is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navagate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and a newly built outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existance to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coalmining industries, to ghost towns.

Kim was an amazing host! We loved our little tucked away spot. We arrived in a pop-up trailer and Kim expertly helped me back it in perfectly! The stay was quiet and peaceful and we will definitely be back!
Cannot beat the views!
Kim is a wonderful host and the property is absolutely awesome. We would highly recommend this site and the community of Madrid. The road to the mesa is not paved, but totally passable. GOS may tell you to veer off of Waldo Mesa Rd., but stay on and follow Kim’s directions. Loves every minute!
Kim was so kind, we arrived in raining weather and she let us borrow her umbrella while we set up camp she also let us get dry wood from her stack of wood along with her hatchet. She was kind to check on us every morning by text. The camping spot is very beautiful day and night along with the small town of Madrid.
Thank you , Kim, for sharing your amazing and peaceful property with us .
Love the view and watched a beautiful sunset and moonrise and woke up to an equally gorgeous sunrise
We will definitely be back and in fact, have already made reservations!

A great place to stay near madrid
Great little spot for a getaway. Kim, the host, was very kind and really cared to make sure we had what we needed and our stay was enjoyable. Would go back and recommend!
Amazing view! Cute town! Accommodating host! Was at site #1 to take in a beautiful sunrise and sunset with the perfect cool breeze coming with each. The area is quiet and serene. There was a tent mat, rake, soften flatten out soil, fire extinguisher, shovel and a jar of cinnamon (Kim taught me it keeps snakes away!) didn’t see any but def sprinkled it around precariously. There was a clean outhouse including tp and a guided path to it, at night guided by solar lights. Great area to set up shop for a bit
