Description

Why wouldn’t you want to camp in one of the most scenic parts of the Trail of the Mountain Spirits By-Way? Cherry Creek Campground is surrounded by dense mixed conifer trees and is very flat, with only gentle slopes. In the autumn, nearby hillsides create a gorgeous mosaic of golden aspens, rusty oaks, and bright red sumac. It’s recommended that campers bring their own firewood. You’ll find stores in nearby Silver City.

Beautiful free campground on the way to the Cliff Dwellings. There is NO potable water on site. There was a trench latrine that was well maintained, but you have to bring your own water source. Unless I missed the spigot or something.

Free Campground on the way to Gila Cliff Dwellings. Nice sites and it wasn't too crowded when I was there.
