If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
There was lovely sage brush blooming everywhere and October was a great month to be in the area.
Liz was super helpful with questions I had!
I definitely would only feel comfortable driving to the site with 4W drive personally and felt really grateful to get there in my Subaru with high clearance!
I appreciate how private it is, but it is too pricey for me to visit again.
Wild west experience
Beautiful spot overlooking the valley with mountains in the background. This site had plenty of room for two couples to spread out. Being on a hilltop got a little windy at times, but there are areas where you can sit behind trees for some wind blocking. While we didn't see any wild horses on the Hosts land, we saw them driving in and out. Definitely check out Virginia City, between the site and visiting VC, you really feel like you're in the Wild West. Make sure you follow the Hosts written directions to avoid some off roading, otherwise a sedan should make it with probably a little undercarriage rubbing at times. Our SUV with all season low profile tires was fine. Host communicated great and we look forward to returning!
This place was just lovely!
Even on a hazey day this spot was beautiful.
30 sum minutes outside of Reno, you can’t beat it!
Hiking through the juniper trees and the birdwatching was great.
A note on getting there. If you like to use google maps like me- Map the directions Liz gives on a desktop computer first and then send those to your phone. You can’t customize your route through the app. I trusted the app too much and it took me and my Prius down the very bumpy and rough Loftis Dr.
Another note for my front wheel drive friends. Just park your car in the nicely designated spot to the right of the green trash can. Since I got through gnarly Loftis Dr. I overestimated my cars ability and drove down the slope to the left of the trash can (so I could be closer to the picnic table🙄). I realized, when trying to leave the next morning that the slopes dirt is very soft and the Prius couldn’t get back up. I managed up it eventually with the help of some friends coming out with tools.
Mistakes were made and lessons learned! I will probably be back, hopefully with a friends AWD car haha. 😁
Private and gorgeous!
Liz’s site is a gem! The sagebrush smell mixed with the incredible views make you feel like you hit jackpot. It’s a lot of space, so provides nice sense of privacy, and would be great for a group. We went as a couple and loved the low key, serene night by the fire pit.
Had a great two night stay with my partner. It was pretty hazy from the fires, but the sunset on the second night was absolutely spectacular! We were happy to have brought a shade structure - the site is pretty exposed. Can’t be the privacy and quiet. Would love to come back!
Wonderful vista and lots of privacy
Very excited about our first Hipcamp stay - was much happier camping than staying at a hotel in Reno. Camp site was spacious and easy to find in the dark (important for us because we had just driven 7 hours to get there). Appreciated the thoughtful amenities like trash can and Yellowjacket traps. Thanks for the great spot!
Beautiful mountain getaway
Liz was amazing! And so responsive. The 12 acre property is beautiful and very remote with incredible views (and you get it all to yourself)!! If you’re looking to be completely alone in the mountains, this is the place for you :) it was super windy with a really bad thunder and lightning storm, which broke our tent, so we ended up having to go stay in a hotel (a modified glamping trip) but without the storm and smoke, I would absolutely return!! The roads off of Cartwright are very steep and loose gravel and although they didn’t require 4wd, I can’t really imagine driving them in anything but a truck or SUV. Liz, thank you for letting stay on your beautiful property. Also this was SOOOO close to the city which was so nice for grabbing groceries and random things we needed. And the direction on Apple Maps seemed to get us to the right place (left off of Cartwright onto Hamilton, another left onto Globe then a right onto Yellowjacket and go up the hill and the property is on the left)
