Open fields with fun decorations
I met Iris on the way in, and we had a brief but nice conversation, seems we share Irish ancestry. She pointed me in the direction to camp down the driveway, on the back of the property, and gave me very detailed descriptions of what to enjoy in the daylight. The long trail all the way to the back end of the farm with excellent views of endless rolling hills, farmland, and blue sky was a nice bonus, especially for the dogs to run around and release some energy. The Irish themed decorations were very neat and a nice touch, especially the gazebo. There were multiple large fields for dogs or kids to run around & play in, as well as a full, very nice playground (which I was too old for, but kids would love it). The hammock was such a perfect touch, especially in the breeze with the warm sun on my face. Glad there's a toilet available right next to each of the 2 camping areas. Apparently some properties don't supply these. This was an "exquisite" property and very enjoyable experience. The only advice I have is to check wind advisories for the area when taking into consideration the booking. It is Nebraska, of course. Otherwise, it is a beautiful place to stay, and very peaceful, with lots of room AND facilities to play, plus Iris being an extremely pleasant and welcoming host.
Beautiful sunrises. Great stargazing. Iris is very friendly and responsive to any questions. Great place to enjoy a rural farm setting. Lots of space to spread out and enjoy. Clean toilets.
Iris was very pleasant. We had no issues. You are sleeping fairly close to the house if that is an issue for anyone, but you can easily face your tent towards the field.
The tent/corn crib area is a little run down, but for the price it’s not that big of a deal. I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here, but if it’s on your way, I think it’s a good option for the price.
The bathroom is a composting outhouse. It had no bad odor. Water is supplied through a hose from the house which worked fine for us. No showers.
Quiet, family friendly spot!
Our family stayed here over Labor Day weekend with our little off-grid camper and we had a fantastic time! We were pleasantly surprised by the very clean compositing toilet available right at our campsite. It was so so so quiet and peaceful and felt very safe. The host was super nice too.
We boondocked in a 30’ RV and let me just tell you… the sunrise and sunsets were incredible! Our stay was quiet and peaceful, and Iris and her husband were lovely to chat with. This land is a very special slice of paradise - definitely book at least one night here if you find yourself in Ponca!
Perfect spot to camp with the dogs!
Camped here and went to a concert in Sioux City. Little bit a drive but worth it for the privacy and beautiful scenery! Fire pit on each site and outhouses give you all the amenities of a campground without all the people around you. Iris was awesome and let us leave our dogs crated in a tent while we went to our concert.
