Why Hipcamp when driving across country rather than hotels or RV parks? Because you are going to get off the beaten track. You are going to meet great, creative, inspiring people and get to see their homes, farms, ranches, unique properties and get to talk with them and share stories.
Audrey and Richard's farm is the epitome of this experience. This place is just fabulous. It is aesthetic and lovely (we camped in our little camper trailer so did not stay in the lovely cabins or use the outdoor kitchen but those options look amazing) and Audrey and Richard's vision of sustainable farming is inspiring. What a marvelous place to relax and decompress after a day on the road. We enjoyed our conversations with the family and hit Audrey's little farm store for gifts in the morning before hitting the road.
Highly, highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time at at Audrey’s place. Property is beautiful, the beach area is a fabulous bonus. We will be back again with the kiddos next time. Walmart is 10 mins away. The flys are intense.

If you are looking for a quiet, unique, earthly, and beautiful campsite, go to Moonstone. The hosts are kind and attentive. We are novice campers and ran our car battery through the night on accident, but Richard and Audrey were quick to help out. There are great places to hike around, a pond to swim, and your campsite area to lounge. We felt at ease and enjoyed the area and all the cute buildings and greenery that are at this site. We will surely find our way back in the future.

As soon as we arrived at Moonstone it was clear that my husband and I had made a great choice booking this campsite as our first attempt at using HipCamp. We were greeted by Richard who told us about the history of the farm, and held space for the original keepers of the land, the Dakota people. He and his wife Audrey were tremendously kind and accommodating throughout our trip. Even helping us with a rogue Tomcat that was set on getting in our tent! We also enjoyed visiting their store and purchased a beautiful pottery piece, a magnet, and some delicious coffee.

The land itself is well cared for, and still maintains its natural beauty. We camped in a grove of trees, which was next to several smaller outbuildings and the original foundation of another farm building which had been turned into a round garden. There were plenty of spots to set up a hammock and spend the day reading. The site was a short walk to the pond, where we used the provided canoe and did several laps to take in the wildlife. (If you are someone who is sensitive to bugs, you may want to make sure you have a screened in space or at least a hat with a net. There weren’t mosquitos but occasionally there were gnats and flies.)

Additionally, the outhouse was clean, and they even had a solar shower (which my husband used…but was too cold for me!).

We will definitely be back, and are already planning to find another weekend to return this summer and bring another group with us!

Audrey and Richard’s oasis far exceeded my expectations. Not only was the property absolutely gorgeous (green fluffy grass, beautiful trees and pond, fields, flowers...), but Audrey and Richard themselves made my stay that much more enjoyable. They are welcoming, helpful, peaceful, and wise. I feel so grateful to have crossed paths with them. I stayed for 2 nights but could have easily booked a week. I hiked around their property with my puppy, practiced yoga in the grass near the cow pasture, meditated by their pond... oh I have nothing but amazing things to say about their wonderland.

I had an incredible stay at the Moonstone Farm. Audrey and her family are incredible hosts, and their property is beautiful and serene. The campsite is a perfect spot, with some shaded trees, a fire pit, chairs, and a picnic table. Firewood was provided and there was a lot of available kindling. I spent most of my time down by the pond, enjoying the sunshine and the beach. It is an idyllic spot for observing the farm's abundant wildlife and spending some quiet time in nature. I opted to take the farm tour with Audrey, which I would HIGHLY recommend. She shared the rich history of the farm, as well as her mission to create an environment that truly gives back to the Earth through perennial farming and holistic management. I learned so much and was inspired to bring some of the perspectives I learned from Audrey back to my own life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay at Moonstone farm and I hope you have that same opportunity!
