What a great place! So many amenities and a decent amount of land to explore. You can really tell a lot of thought was put into the creation of this gem. The weather was not great while we were there, but the silo provided plenty of protection from the rain and we still had a fantastic time. Timothy came and met us when we arrived and it was nice to know he would be available of needed. Otherwise it's a very private location. There is a constant noise from the nearby highway, but after a while you will tune it out. We will definitely be returning to this spot in the future!
Way better than any campground
The camping spot is tucked amongst the woods and there isn't anyone else around. There are trails all around of mown grass leading to different places. You have a balcony to over look the river. The gazebo is great with a full table and comfortable chairs. There is a firepit with a swinging grill. Firewood down there too (for a small fee). It was just amazing. I came to fish the river and didn't have much luck, but it was a great day for a paddle. Porta Potty was clean and well stocked. I don't have a single bad thing to say.
Tim and Rusty Star Ranch were wonderful! The property was beautiful and well-equipped for our weekend stay. There were so many amenities available - the pavilion, a (clean!) potty, a lovely firepit + grille, a patio overlooking the river, hammocks, kayaks, everything you need to relax. Property was clean and level and surprisingly bug-free, given the time of year. The freeway noise was present, but we learned to tune it out. The hosts came and greeted us, but otherwise gave us our space to relax and enjoy the beautiful view.
Loved our weekend stay! Caught a few fish, relaxed, and ate good food. We explored the area a little bit a found a handful of cool mushrooms and caterpillars. The pictures we took of the sunset had people jealous.
True hip camp
This place puts the “hip” back in Hip Camp. Secluded, a perch overlooking the river, enchanted lighting. Host met me after dark and offered to start a campfire. Warning: although you can see it the freeway is nearby. Earplugs for sleeping are good idea.
Gracious hosts /adorable camp site
Within minutes of driving up to this beautifully set up campsite in the late evening, the friendly hosts walked over from their home that was near (but not visible) and greeted me. They made sure I was set up comfortably and let me know they were available to answer any questions I might have about attractions in the area. Before leaving me to settle in, they set the ambience by lighting the tiki torches around the site for me. For a "rustic" campsite, this set-up was very comfy. I didn't even need to bring my camping chairs or firewood (with an envelope for $$). The cute, solar-lighted gazebo, the little deck overlooking the river and decorative birdhouses in many of the trees totally added to the charm! And the whole site was very spacious and totally private. The only down side to this site is that it is so close to the freeway and there is no way to avoid hearing the traffic noise. However, I used a small bluetooth speaker to play music to drown it out. But if traffic noise isn't a huge turn-off to you, this is a true gem for a very reasonable fee.
This was an absolutely gorgeous place to spend the evening. The river at sunset is stunning, the amenities (rocking chair, hammocks, etc.) add so much, and Tim is a kind and gracious host who went out of his way to show me around and make me feel settled. The nearby trail makes for a wonderful walk in the morning and you get used to the highway noise very quickly. One last note: saw the best stars here I think I’ve ever seen.
A secluded gem!
What a marvelous gem!!
The site is exactly as described and even better. Plenty of space to spread out if you'd like, with a lovely table to eat dinner and a huge fire pit to gather round at night.
My son rated the porta-potty 6 stars. And speaking of stars, you get a great view of the site at night. Watching the sunset over the river was a delight and then we watched the stars come out as the night got darker.
You can tell the hosts really care about their guests. There's firewood to purchase on site (very generous bundles), they had kindling next to the fire pit when we arrived, there are two comfy hammocks hanging in the trees, and they even provide kayaks, inner tubes, and life jackets to enjoy the river.
It is near the highway so if you're not used to tuning out the noise bring earplugs for sleeping. The trade-off is well worth it - the site is private, the view is amazing, and you have your own private river oasis. We can't wait to book more visits next summer.
