Kristy and Doug were very fine hosts.
Kristy communicated very well in advance of our stay. Easy to access location. This site was next to the garage for access to the power, and had a beautiful hilly far off landscape views to our side and back. Enjoyed the warm camp fire, thanks to the firewood from our hosts. We would stay here again.
Lovely, convenient, chickens!
I stayed at this location for 4 nights, Kristy and Doug were absolutely lovely hosts. The location is ideal for accessing all the local trails and parks as well as being able to easily visit Lanesboro and other local breweries. Camping spot itself provides everything you need need privacy beautiful views water and electricity and of course no noisy camping neighbors other than the occasional inquisitive chicken! I would definitely stay again when we're back in that neck of the woods!
This was a perfect space for exploring the beautiful Root River area. Just minutes from Preston and Lanesboro. Kristy and Doug were great hosts -- there to meet me and be sure I got situated, then not really visible, but available via text. The view of the cornfields and the horses in the pasture was serene. Good 30 amp hookup. Water hose from the house. Didn't think to ask if that was a drinking water hose, so I didn't drink.
Wonderful hosts-spectacular sunsets
We had our first hip camp experience with Doug and Kristy at Howdy hipsters. It was wonderful. We chose a spot with fantastic views of the rolling hills and valleys west of Preston. The sunsets were awe inspiring.
We brought our inverter generator and chose to use that for the weekend which gave us more flexibility and where we could position the travel trailer.
Doug and Kristy were very friendly and fun to chat with. They love dogs, and our five year old springer spaniel had a really good time hanging out sniffing, seeing the horses, checking out the chickens and meeting up with Doug and Kristy’s dogs. Highly recommended.
Great family + pet vacation locatio
Kristy and Doug were terrific hosts! Friendly, accomodating, and flexible. We brought our dog with and they were so kind as to let us use their fenced yard for her. Insider tip: Kristy owns a dog grooming business in downtown Preston. Message ahead of time to set up an appoitment for your pup while you're visiting. We also had 4 young kids with and Doug and Kristy were so kind to them. We used the rv site with electrical and water and our stay was very comfy. The views are amazing and the location was close to everything
Highly recommend the lower campsite. If you want privacy that’s the place to be unless there’s other campers. We were there by yourselves. There’s also a great little Out house. The owners were very accommodating and very friendly. We enjoyed seeing the horses and were able to pet them, and I stepped in a horse pie and tracked it into my new camper van ;)
