During the summer months through August 15, campers can check in as early as noon on the day they are arriving as long as they make arrangements for the time with us.  This is due to Jane's summer work schedule.

First, we would like to thank the dozens of wonderful campers we had last year and those that helped NRPines be selected as a finalist for being the Best Hipcamps in Minnesota. We look forward to many more memorable family experiences. The River Farm was nicknamed by locals as the “Jewel of Waseca County”, because the stunningly scenic 40-acre property overlooks a pond,  and the Le Sueur River Valley where no houses/farms can be seen from most of the North Ridge Pines property.  Skylines magnify the very diverse topography of rolling hills, majestic pine & oak forests to wetlands and is full of prairie grasses, wildflowers & wildlife.  Meet “Red”, our Tennessee Walker gelding, that likes to get his picture taken with children.  Whitetail deer live next to the creek along with countless variety of song and game birds. Audubon picture  photo opportunities exist for those with a love of birds.

Our focus has been quality over quantity by having only few private campsites located to maximize peaceful tranquility.  North Ridge Pines is not a congested party campground, but a quiet and private family escape location with campsites being kept visually and audially far apart from other campers. We check the grounds to assist as needed and to help ensure safety and amenities like firewood. Each campsite offers a firepit and their own private enclosed latrine accommodations and other amenities as requested. For many guests having the option of complete privacy is one of the things NRPines can provide for those only looking for quiet and covid-free solitude. Hosts have been covid vaccinated and we follow covid procedures for your safety.

For those with a more adventurous spirt the Creekside trail offers criss-crossing trails through a variety of changing terrain.  Local communities offer a variety of things to do  nearby that includes waterfalls and buffalo near Mankato, biking through lake country on the MN State Trail, and we have 3 bikes, a canoe, kayak, paddle boat, and games free of charge along with a daily supply of firewood that is left near the camp-rings and more tarped at the property. Limited electrical hookups, generators, cookstoves are available, but the bringing of any pet would need to be cleared prior to booking.

Based on the time of year, for those interested in  farming opportunities about hydroponics, woodcrafts, & etc. we are able to share about activities we doi including boiling down sap to making aronia syrups and beverages from our organically grown crops. NRPines offers free kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating and has a 20-foot deep 4-acrepond at this MN Grown aronia-berry family farm. Owners are full-time educators that are in the process renovating a traditional barn to offer future outdoor related classes varying from homesteading to baking and woodcraft instruction. Our 27' Forest River Camper (sleeps 8) is available should you chose not to bring your own camper and is listed as a separate listing.

Historically the land itself was once owned by Ulysses S. Grant & purchased from former MN Speaker of the House Rodney Searle who had congressional gatherings back in the 1970's & who was a conservationist far ahead of his time.

Please read the rules for your safety and to respect others. To keep prices down we ask you pack out the trash you bring in. Life jackets are kept by the dock and feel free to call for any questions or clarification concerning check in times during the week verses weekends.  Looking forward to a meaningful, relaxing and memorable visit.   Dan and Jane

Dan and Jane we are extremely welcoming and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed right away, then leaving us to our peaceful evening away from the city. Beautiful property, beautiful sunrise view from campsite 1, thanks so much!

We had a great time camping here with alot of children. The host always checked on us to make sure that we are okay or to see if we need anything like water or firewood. The children enjoyed going up and down the hill. They caught frogs, crickets, grasshoppers and monarch butterflies. We also took the kayak for a spin in the pond. I will definitely be back soon.

Beautiful and relaxing campsite! Our stay truly surpassed our expectations! While we had read the previous reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised at how large the whole grounds were and how private our site was. We enjoyed meeting the hosts - super friendly and excited to share the land for us to enjoy. We walked the paths cut into the prairie that were filled with wildflowers and soaked in the stars and sunrise. We used this campsite as a launch to hike in Minneopa State Park and then the next day to bike on the Sakatah Trail. Highly, highly recommend!

Sunrise! Gorgeous view from the site Nice and private! Dozens of monarchs out this morning

I’m not sure we could have asked for a better experience. The land is beautiful—native prairie grasses mixed with mature trees, a creek, and ponds. We camped by the pond and loved it—we fell asleep to the song of frogs and crickets and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. The hosts are absolutely wonderful—Dan and Jane have thought of everything, and are so accommodating without being intrusive. They gave great suggestions of things to do in the area and are super knowledgeable. We feel so lucky to have stumbled on this gem and can’t wait to go back.
