Hardwood Hills Homestead is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
We are the Davis’s and we started our off grid homestead in 2017. We reside on 80 acres of absolute beautiful nature. We have rolling hills covered in hardwoods throughout the property. Hence the name we chose Hardwood Hills Homestead. We currently have a dog (Sergeant), We will continue to add more livestock as we go. We also have a large garden and small orchard that we cleared the land for and have grown in it now for 2 years. Are goal it to be a close to self sufficiency as possible. Current project at the homestead: *We added a large addition to the existing cabin that was here when we purchased the property. We are still in the midst of finishing that. *Solar power will be are man power source once we finish the addition. *Next will be to add a pole barn for storage and parking.

Beautiful Spring Fed Pond - Site #2
Beautiful forest property
We had a great time camping at Hardwood Hills Homestead! The heavily forested, large sites are secluded and private. There is a fire ring and picnic table at site 2 and I'm sure the others are similar. Interlochen state park is about 10 minutes away. Highly recommended!

Cozy campsite site #3
The End of the Earth
If primitive is what you seek, this is it, you’ve reached “the end of the earth”. The fire wood “provided” is from fallen trees, so bring a chainsaw. The road consists of deep sand and “iffy” coming and going to the main road. Pack a shovel just in case. The owner never stopped by to check on my visit, I couldn’t find their house for water or trash. Not my style, won’t return

Overlooking Spring Fed Pond Site#1
Relaxing with Sergeant the dog!
This spot was well taken care of and tucked away, surrounded by beautiful greenery! If you’re bringing a pet make sure they are okay with dogs because we were joined by the lovely Sergeant for most of our stay - he enjoyed the presence of our dog and our chicken cooking over the fire. Great spot for looking at stars and spotting fireflies - would highly recommend :)

Beautiful Secluded Tent/Pop up Site
Beautiful campsite in wooded area
Had a very enjoyable stay at the secluded site at the Hardwood Hills Homestead! The rustic campsite is situated on a level clearing surrounded by woods, and was equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The porta Jon is a short walk away down the road, and was very clean during my stay. The free firewood at the site is abundant, although it was wet when I was there, and will require splitting. The sand track coming onto the property is fairly rutted with some loose spots, and may be difficult to traverse if you have a two wheel drive vehicle with low clearance! The host is very respectful of privacy, and I actually never saw him during my stay. The other sites are close enough that you will hear your neighbors if they are occupied, but far enough away to preserve privacy. Overall a great place to experience some beautiful northwest Michigan forest scenery!
