Loved it! Highly recommend.
Two slight logistics issues - it was unclear where we were supposed to refill our water jug. So we took one from another site, but if that had been occupied, we wouldn’t have been able to do that. Additionally, our propane canister ran out, which was an inconvenience, but quickly resolved.
Loved the view, the tents, and the quiet. We had our kids there - 5 and 3 - and after they calmed down about the excitement of the super cool tent, they were great. So, it works for families. It would be a great place to get away without them too.
Pros: Tent is beautiful. Bed is VERY comfy. The propane griddle in the separate “kitchen” tent was a nice bonus. We were wishing we brought pancake batter! Decor is so cute, and there are lots of extra blankets and pillows, they even provided coffee. The compost toilet and sink was very nice, everything was clean and well equipped. They provided a fire pit with a small amount of wood, and there is a lot more on the grounds for cutting (bring a hand saw). The location in southwest Michigan is fantastic, lots of little farms and breweries and wineries! There is a cheese farm right around the corner (Evergreen lane Creamery) and a cute lavender farm near Saugatuck (Summerhouse Lavender farm). We had a blast picking strawberries and touring around.
Cons: it seems the tent, while definitely waterproof, still has some openings somewhere near the ground because a lot of bugs (ants, spiders, ticks) still found their way in. Setting is not quite as remote/private as anticipated (but still better than a campground): there is another single campsite nearby that shares the toilet facilities, and a couple houses nearby in the woods which can’t be seen, but are definitely heard (one was having a drum circle late into the evening, another seemed to have a shooting range). Check in was a bit hectic: we notified Sandy in the morning on the day of check in that we would arrive around 4pm (check in begins at 2). We got a call when were were about 30 min away saying it wouldn’t be ready until 5:30. So we rolled with it, stalled and showed up at 5:45 but Sandy was still cleaning. The tent and restroom weren’t actually ready for us until about 7.
Overall: recommend for people used to regular camping and want a real bed for a night and to be a bit spoiled. Not a great option for high maintenance types afraid of bugs.
