It has about 1320 feet of the West Branch or Big Creek running through it. There is a 1940's fishing lodge where the owners stay. The campsite has it's own picnic table, fire ring and firewood for your use, but there is room for 3 or 4 tents. To insure privacy I only allow 1 group at a time. Bring your pole since there are brook and brown trout in the creek. Along the creek is a hiking path that follows the creek and leads to a beaver dam. On a clear moonless night you can see a billion star, yes really. Although ORV's are not to be ridden on the property there are a couple hundred miles of 50" and motorcycle trails just outside of our gate. It is also 1/2 mile off the MI shore to shore horse riding trail. No hunting, shooting, or fireworks allowed on the property. Depending on the time of the year, don't forget bug spray. Verizon cellular service works on the property, but other cellular services might not.

Great place, very quiet and remote, well laid out and easy to find. Tim was a great host and replied to messages very quickly. The property is beautiful, so very peaceful.
I look forward to returning again. Thanks Tim!
Tim was quick to answer any questions and checked in to make sure we arrived OK. This is a well kept property just off a short drive out of town down a forest service road. It was supremely quiet with only the distant noise of occasional ORVs and planes (good place to use a flight radar). Plenty of space to spread out around the campsite. Plenty of areas marked with signs around the property to explore. The pit latrine was clean and adequate for any immediate needs.
The creek was great and well cleared for wandering and swimming. Very great views in each direction as the creek is at the bottom of a short hill.
Plenty of trails to wander and a big hill to bike down.
Mid-michigan happy place!
Great spot for a couple of tents or a small camper. Nice flat area along a sandy hill running to the brook below. Adjacent to ORV trails and public lands but no noise during the time we were there (Memorial Day weekend). We had one night of moderate rain with no drainage or runoff issues. Nice firepit and picnic table. We used this as our home base for hiking in the area (Mio, Grayling, West Branch and points in between). Great communication with the owner with easy access by locked gate. There is another building on site (the fishing lodge, which was not in use while we were here) but it is removed enough for the campsite to feel private. Private, serene and low-stress way to enjoy the Au Sable area.
This was our favorite camping spot this weekend. It's nice and quiet - away from the road noise, even - has great skies at night because it's away from all the light pollution in more densely populated areas, and, somehow, no mosquitos! We'd definitely go back.
